Has anyone seen the LED's on the gauges?

I am wanting to know if they use an orange LED or a white LED with the little covers on them.

Anyone change their gauge led's? I think I read somewhere that they are soldered on.

I want to change all my gauge lights to white or blue.

I heard that they were soldered orange LEDs. They probably use the same LEDs that are in the backlight of the Head unit and LCD clock, so that everything has the same color.

I would like to change the orange lights to blue too. I think I started a thread about this about a year ago but didn't really find out much...

I don't know. It would be a pimp mod if you could do it. It's probably a beotch getting the instrament cluster out. Changing the color of the LCD odometer might be hard too.

Right click and save that, then go to {instrumentpanel_meter_overhaul.pdf] and it shows you how to get it out....looks kinda easy to get it out.

What I'm worried about is how they are soldered and if they are resolderable.

I'm just guessing but I think the bulb number is a 194, most other toyota bulbs are the same ones.

^So do you think they sell a 194 bulb that is blue. Yeah, I would hate to do all that work just to find out that you can't do it. The blue would look outstanding. I may open up the gauge cluster one day if I've got some time to kill. Just to take a look around and see if it is or at all possible.

WOW!!! That's a lot of work. I may consider it though. Looks like an all day project though. Very tedious.

Try to get a real fine soldering tip. Use a soldering pen if you have one. A soldering GUN usually gets too hot for soldering on a circuit board. You don't want to damage anything with excessive heat. And I would really recommend using a solder sucker, for desoldering the orange LEDs. You can get 'em Radio Shack. And while you're at Radio Shack, get some Silver-bearing solder. It melts easy and is good for making small connections. Silver Solder
