Do base Toyotas even exist?

Howdy. First post here but I've been doing a lot of reading and researching because I might soon be joining the Tacoma ranks. I'm looking at the Tacoma Access cab in 4wd with the V-6 and manual six speed and I like what I've seen. No, these newer Tacomas don't seem as stout as the trucks of the past, but they are still mostly leaps and bounds ahead of the the American big-3 offerings. But one frustration I've had is that I cannot seem to find a Tacoma without all sorts of packages. This will be a work and hunting truck and I do not want the level of trim that the SR5 or TRD packages bring. I am trying not to tip my hand to my local dealer (we have one and one only in this small town) and so I haven't discussed with him whether a base Toyota is in the pipeline. So basically, does a base-level Tacoma Access cab exist? What would a decent street price be? Thanks in advance

Toyota does option packages. To get certian things you have to buy the package it comes in. I believe that SR5 is the lowest trim level for the V6. You can go to toyota.com to price things out before going to the dealer. If it is a hunting and work truck you will be seeing mud. The TRD package with the e-locker may be something to consider.

I have a base model, access cab, V6, 4WD. The MSRP was around $23,500. I got $3k knocked off of that.

So they do exist. It seems like they are very common around here (RI / MA). You either have the TRD package Tacos or the base models. I haven't seen much in the middle. It's been that way at any dealer I've gone to also.

It was kind of frustrating because I wanted just the convenience package but the wait time was ridiculous.

Some of the packages vary in different parts of the country. Plug in different ZIP codes at Toyota.com......

Agreed.... 4wd and e-locker are a good thing to have. I don't hunt, but I do drive through fields and private trails you might take to a hunting spot. I've used the locker a couple times when the trail got muddy. You'll want those options if you ever venture off dry asphalt or dirt. lol Unless you always park on the side of the road and hike in or something similar.

Not to mention if you tow ATV's to hunt from having the tow package is good: extra oil cooler, bigger alternator, hitch and wiring.

I figured it was easier and cheaper to get those thing from the factory rather than try to do it myself later on.
