I recently completed the Black headlight mod. I used Krylon Fusion and followed all of the directions with no problems. I was very intimidated at first, but its very simple to do. I do recommend scuffing up the surface a bit and using light coats at a longer interval. I have a couple of runs here and there, but not bad. Here are some pics...

Early Saturday morning around 1:30 am, about 1 mile from my house, I was driving down the street on my way home and a guy came flying out of a side street, running the stop sign, and hit me in the front passengers side. He was driving a 02 Protege, probably totalled. I have damage all down the side of my truck.
Adjuster stopped by yesterday. $8,000 in damage.
-(2) new wheels and tires on the passengers side
-fender and flare
-door skin
-mud flap
-pull out the rocker, fill, refinish
-refinish front bumper
It also had a bunch of suspension damage. No visible frame damage, but I wont know for sure until next week. I had it towed to the body shop and hes going to have it done around the 22nd. The two top mounts for my headlight were cracked so hes going to repair those instead of me having to pull it apart and paint it again. In exchange I am getting a black bumper and hes painting my grill for me. At least there is some plus to this. It sucks though because its only 4 months old...

LOL I was in Attleboro, but the guy was visiting his friend for the weekend so he actually managed to leave the state. Not too far though!
Thanks man, I did it when my gf was around and boy did she make it worse LOL. But she made me double check my every move because she kept on telling me I was nuts and I was gonna screw it up. All in all it wasnt bad. I wish I took more time painting but the rain was moving in. I am def happy with the results!

At least he didn't hit your new headlights. I figured that shortly after I finished doing mine that somebody was going to run out in front of me or something and ruin all my hard work.
Best of luck on getting everything fixed properly!
Well technically he didnt hit them, but he did cause the top mounts to snap off. I was gonna get a new headlight, but decided to try and fix it for now and get a color matched bumper instead. I think i might have saved the fender mount from breaking by not putting that bolt back in. If it doesnt hold, ill buy a light on ebay and redo the black mod.

Headlights look great! I'm still waiting for a time when my fiance isn't around so she won't think I'm nuts.
edit: Were you in RI or one of us actually happened to leave the state?
I know what you mean. I want to do mine but I dont want to do it with my wife around. I dont want to have to listen to all the questions about why Im taking headlights off of the truck and putting them in the oven.

My damage was not as bad as yours, It was about $5K but i had to replace the headlamp, grill, fender, and bumper. They might be able to repaint your bumper. Your door, fender, and rockerpanel is scrap metal. Expect to be without a truck for a couple weeks.
They said they were gonna pull the rocker panel out and fill it. They are going to repaint the bumper. There are also scratches down the whole side of the truck. Best part is I get to drive a Nissan Sentra for the next couple weeks
