tailgate alarm?

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but I've been thinking... I'd like to hook up my tailgate
to the factory alarm. There is a alarm on the hood.... can I run a wire from the hood pin alarm
switch back to the tailgate and install a pin switch there so that when the tailgate is opened,
it's treated like opening the hood? Has anyone done anything like this?

Also... instead of tieing into the hood alarm switch... are there any open inputs or outputs on
the factory alarms that we can use for something like this?

Thanks - jack

Teing into the hood pin would probally be the easyest of solutions...

My clifford alarm has separate door, hood and trunk inputs, so others may as well. You'd need to find the alarm module for your factory alarm, and then a schematic for it, and see if it has an open input for the trunk. Since its probably the same alarm for the car as the truck, it should be there.

Yeah, it can be done. My security system has a door pin switch on the tailgate. You just need a single wire. When the door pin switch contacts ground, while the alarm is armed, then it activates the siren.
