Crappy Fender Flare Paint TSB?

Has anyone had the poor flare finish TSB done? I could stand to have mine repainted, but knowing the dealerships I can see them denying it. My flares are much more washed out looking and orange peeled than the fender itself. Anyone have any experiences with this TSB or any ideas?

Need to show some pics. The only problem that I have with mine is chipping from small rocks on the rear flares. If the finish looks bad I would bring it back to the dealer.

If you're referring to the dull orange peel finish on the flares, that's the way they're supposed to be. The TSB I think you're referring to is about how to repaint the flares to give them that dull and rough finish. They're not supposed to match the glossy finish on the fenders.

The TSB does not seem to read that way.

Reading that TSB deal it doesn't look like it would be covered by warranty. Does it mean that Toyota will charge you or will they cover it because it was a flaw on their part?

That really sucks how Toyota decided to dull out the fenders.

It's just one more thing to worry about.

Trying to match the rest of the fenders is a hassle.

They should have painted them just like rest of the truck. They did it with the bumpers, why not the fenders.

Looks like they just painted over the textured black plastic that you see on the non-SR5/PreRunners. Pontiac does the same thing with the Vibe and it 1) looks crappy, and 2) chips easily.

The look of the paint has to do with the surface it is going on. Eurathane body parts like bumber, fenders dont' have exact color match to regular body panels because of this. On my former silver Lexus GS , the bumbers didn't match the regular body panel. I pointed it out to the dealer and said that was normal. Every car on the lot was the same way because it was different material surface. Of course it shouldn't peel.

Does this apply to all the truck fenders and bumpers because on the X-runners seem to match pretty good unless the sports trucks have a different bumper since it's an off road vehicle.

I would think it would be covered under warrenty. Most TSB's are.

Some of the over-fenders I see match pretty well on 4x4's too. Some don't. I would imagine this TSB was put out to address the ones that don't. Based on the fact that not all of the over-fenders on Tacoma's look so bad I don't think this was intentional.
