One thing that keeps bugging me is that I cannot hear the turn signal. I know my hearing is not that great, but I hear the signal when I drive other cars. There have been times when I am riding down the road after changing lanes and my signal is just blinking away because I don't hear it. Any suggestions other than hearing aids for me?
The quiet signal is one of the things I love about the truck. Two of the lights on my way to/from work are painfully long. In previous vehicles I would only turn the signal on just before the light changed. My suggestion is to stop pushing the lever all the way to the stop point when changing lanes....just move it half-way and it will return when you let go. That is all you need for a lane change anyway.
Drive with a metronome. Wire it into your turn signal switch so that it turns on when your signal is on and turns off when your signal is off. That way, not only can you adjust the sound, but you can also make it 'tick' as fast or slow as you want.

No, turn signals are for people that don't want to be arseholes to the drivers around them. While I am sure you are being sarcastic, at the heart of sarcasm is often found a root of true opinion. Besides, running over Cooper Mini's might be fun but it give us a bad image.
Reminds me of an old practical joke, where we would wire the persons horn to the blinkers, or the brake lights. Hours of fun... the brake light was the best...
This may solve your issue, at least you would be able to hear it.

How about a $20 turn signal blinker added to your side mirrors? http://www.autoanything.com/mirrors/69A3023A0A0.aspx
The flashing in your peripherall vision might let you know that
your turn signal is on..... I've never used this product, but it
looks like it might do the trick.
... all that wasted time i searched the truck up and down for the volume adjustment.
i was curious as to where the tick was coming from. i thought it was similar to the famous "toyota 4.0" tick. add a little synthetic... kinda goes away.
