FREE Service Guide & Vehicle History PDF Glove Box Booklet
greetings everyone, i would like to request your comments on the following ...
i recently purchased a 2006 tacoma x-runner and i love it dearly, i will be doing all the service work on this vehicle as it will most likely be normal driveway work, so i wanted to put together a service log booklet for the truck. i was unsatisfied with the service book the dealer gave me, and wanted something more compact than what toyota had available for print on toyotaowners.com. i have made these for myself in the past and have found them very simple and very useful! i decided this time that i would expand upon my simple service log.
i have gathered together all the service schedule information into a handful of concise pages, included information about capacities, general sizes and expendable service items. i have also included remote key fob programming, stereo/starter/alarm wiring information, and a wonderful color code chart that some kind sole has made. this booklet is mostly complete, but i would like to verify the information contained within.
if you have any further information that i could include in this booklet i would greatly appreciate hearing from you, in addition please verify any part numbers etc.
i will be posting this across a handful of tacoma forums, and would like to thank the community as a whole for the wealth of information available for these great machines.
if anyone should feel that i have not given credit where credit is due, please contact me as that is not my intention.
i thank you for your time and hope you enjoy what i have made...
P.S. this pdf is intended to be printed on two sides and folded in half producing a 6x4.25" booklet stapled in the middle. if you do not have a duplex printer, print all odd pages first, ensure they are in the proper pulling order and put them back through your printer to print all the even pages.
That's a nice document you have put together. I am sure many of the Tech guys will add more info/after market part #'S and torque settings.

Can someone clear up the Fog Light replacement bulb part number.
Someone posted the replacement bulb being a 9005 and this
guide and the http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...placementGuide
site list something else.... is there a difference between the fog
lights in the 05 and 06 models or what.
the 9145 and the 9005 share all obvious characteristics, they are only physically different in the wattage each burn. You need only be concerned with the possibility of lamp meltage, some say they do, others say different. personally, i have had problems with fog lamp housings melting after switching to larger wattage bulbs (it was on a GM product, the lamp was made in mexico.) i over came my meltage by using some heating duct dope, its basically silly puddy for the heating & A/C tradesmen. either way i will be using lower wattage 9145 bulbs, if i need more light i will add another pair of lamps.

Way cool document thank you for putting it all together . You may also want to add the drain plug gasket/washer Toyota part # 90430-12031 and OEM tall oil filter 90915-YZZD3 for 4.0 engines. Can someone also confirm that the short oil filter part # is 90915-YZZD1.

In the Chasis Lubrication section, could you please add where the 8-fittings are for the 4WD. I know many of us can't find them all

chasis lube on a 4wd is easy, just take a moment to think about this...
upper and lower ball joints on both sides - thats the easy 4.
steering linkage has 4 points, one at either end of the linkage at the outer tie rod. one point at the socket on the idler arm (that one is bolted to the frame), and the last point is at the socket on the pitman arm (thats the one connected to the steering box).
some steering may include more or less points, i wish my 2wd XR had zerks, greased for like sealed units just don't cut it in my book.
here is a good reference image
