I'm new here. I just bought a 06 prerunner with the trd, sr5 and tow package. I have been activley looking for bed covers, running boards, brush guards etc... I think i'm going to get the bed cover first and may order the pace edwards roll top cover. Does anyone have this cover and have any pics? Also is there drilling involved and do the tie downs still work (Slide) once the cover is on? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Also any URL's with some good accessories would help. Ive been googling but figured you guys would know the good ones.
Thanks!
I have an 06 double cab with a pace edwards roll top cover.
My opinion after having it for 6 mo. is that it was expensive and the canister is too big. On the double cab the canister sits a little higher than on others to clear the wheel wells under it.
The only drilling required was to increase the diameter of the drain holes in the front of the bed to insert the tubes that drain the canister.
What I do like is it's ease of use, the ability to lock it, and it's 100% weatherproof.
I might not do it again, I didn't really shop around too much before I got it because I wasn't aware of all of the companies that made a roll top cover. In your situation, on a regular length bed, it might be a little more appropriate.
I'm reviving this thread in the hopes that some other folks have this particular rolling (retractable) tonneau cover and have something to say about it.
I've been thinking about all kinds of covers, camper shells, tonneaus, etc. and I think a retractable canister roll type is the best option. Unfortunately most of them (retrax, roll n lock, etc.) are way too pricey. I might as well get a full out camper shell if I'm gonna spend $700 or more.
So the regular pace edwards roll top is looking like the best bang for the buck at about $680. IF anyone has any photos of this particular unit, or would like to share their experience I'd really appreciate it. Oh, and if you managed to get a different rolling tonneau for less than $700 I'd be interested in hearing about that too..
Thanks in advance.

Good quality and sturdy. The whole thing is metal: canister, cover, tracks. I forgot which brand/model the bottom half of the canister is plastic. However, that makes lifting the canister during install little heavier.
I installed it by myself (drop the canister in front, slide in 2 tracks, 2 bolts to tie down each tracks, put down the canister cover, install strike plate, that's all). There are 3 drain holes: 1 in center bottom of canister and 1 on each track toward the tailgate. If you want to keep the bed dry, drill 3 holes on the bed and used provided tubes to direct water out.
There is a belt to help pull the cover out. To retract, unlock with key and little push it will recoil back.

I loved it. I will probably get one again when I can afford it for my 07. It was easy to install, had a nice tight seal and once I locked my tailgate, made it very secure.
I had the basic one and the only thing I didn't like was the canister cover sat above the bed, while others I have seen sit flush with the bed. Also, I don't know how flush it will fit with the standard bed cabs that the Tacoma's come with now. Seems like if one is installed, the built in tracks for the tie down cleats would be covered, but I haven't seen one installed yet.
