Advice ( pricing and what to ask for ) on having a bumper painted

I've never had to have any thing painted on my cars
before.

I'm thinking about getting a rear bumper ( $150-ish )
and having it painted to match my indigo ink truck.
I am under the impressions ( still verifying ) that you
can get a new, full bumper for around $250 or you can
get just the metal, outside part that needs painting
for $150 and then you take the parts off your old
bumper ( bar, pads, rubber top, etc ) and put it on the
new painted part..... something like that...

Before I start calling body shops and getting a price,
does anyone have a ballpark figure for what it should
cost? $50, $100, $150, $200, etc?

Are the paint colors ( Indigo Ink Pearl ) standard that
any body shop can paint, or do I have to go to a Toyota
body shop to get an exact match?

I know that there is some process called powder coating....
I think that this process actually melts the
paint to the metal surface and it bonds the paint to
the metal parts.

For a bumper... do I want to get it painted or powder
coated.... what are the pricing and color issues there...
2x-3x the cost and less color choices or what....

I assume that I can drop off the metal part of the
bumper that I want painted, have them paint it and
then I can pick it up and disassemble the existing
chrome bumper and re-assemble the new painted
bumper afterwards....

Any info or pointers or 'that won't work' information
would be appreciated.

Any reptible paint and body shop will be able to mix the proper color for you. They will take the paint code off of your drivers door. Figure about 3 hours labor and the cost of the paint and clear coat. You should be in the $250 to $300 range to have it done right. Your truck is new and I would stay far away from discount paint shops. Though some of them have good painters, just like everything else you get what you pay for. Persionally I would go to the dealership. Just my .02 and experiance. ( I have had several cars painted over the years.)

Here in the land of ridiculuously priced things, bumper painting and reinstall is $380 to $420, depending on the shop

Many dealers don't have body shops, they farm their work out to a local shop.
