Connect MP3 Player to JBL Sound System?

I know, I know ...

I've read through several of the iPod threads, but I haven't seen a clear answer to my question (and yeah I read the effing manual). So here goes:

We have the JBL sound system identified as Type 3 in the Tacoma Owner's Manual. I'd like to know if I can hardwire a non-iPod MP3 player to this unit? Are there any open connections on the back? And if so, how are they accessed using the unit's front controls? I don't mind using the player's batteries for power, and I expect to connect via the headphones jack on the player. I just want to avoid having to use an FM transmitter (I hate those things).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the Ipod/MP3/xm/sirius/1980's tapedeck/8 track player/any other audio device with an output on it threads will tell you to use the USA Spec DF-TOY. Do you need a hug, an atta boy, or just want someone to come over to your house to verify that YOUR situation is not any different than the other 42 million people that have discussed this?

Thanks for the polite smack to the face ... Anyway, thanks to Max and Doc for the links to the appropriate threads (sometimes search doesn't work so great). Good to know that there are connections on the back of the JBL system.

I can't wait to rock out to my old ABBA 8-track!! Wait! Maybe I can hook up my phonograph while off-roading. I can plug it into the bed outlet. Neil Diamond is The Jazz Singer! Suh-WEET!! The possibilities are endless.

Peace. Out.

I put in the ipod adapter (paid $200 from the alarm dealer, please don't be stupid like me, get it yourself and put it in, saves you tons of $$$) and it connects into the 6 disk cd changer. I love it except for one thing; the volume does not really go very high. I mean, I am not cranking music, and I am ok with the max volume, but its the only drawback that I can think of.....very happy with having the ipod in the truck....
