Took my 06 in for the manifold tick...Bad News

Dropped my truck off friday for them to look at it. Service manager called me and said good news, your manifolds are a ok. The bad news is the ticking, tapping sound you hear is comming from inside the driver side head and it's getting worse.

I have to drop it off again on Tuesday for 3 days to have the heads pulled and worked over. I went off the deep end and it got pretty ugly in the service ares. This truck is brand new and the bad part is I had it back in there 10 days after driving it home and the tech. told me it was normal and all Toyota's do it.

Will update after I get it back..

How many miles do you have on the '06? When did you buy it? Hope this doesn't happen to me.

I would be intrested to see what this noise is that mine makes. It kinda sounds like someones jerking off on the drivers side area. My truck is going in this tuesday for an exhaust rattle after they did the exhaust TSB work. Plus the tech farked up some other small things (left some small plastic inserts off the wheel well skirts/shields)

why did you flip out at the service people? it was not their fault your engine is faulty. They even acknowledged the problem instead of using their usual "it's normal" phrase

I picked the trucked up May 19 and it had 7 miles on it, now at 4000 miles. The reason I went off was the fact I had it back there for the noise on the 29th and the tech said " oh thats normal for a Toyota " and this sounds like a solid lifter tap.

I just got home from dinner at mothers house and now I can hear what sounds like a valve slapping at hwy. speed also when I pulled in my drive the ck. egn light comes on. What the f!@k is going to happen next.

Did you bitch them out and leave your truck there afterwards?

If you did, they fucked with your truck, GUARANTEED!

Are yall hearing this tick at idle? I'm hearing a tick at idle... only 2K miles on the thing. I sure hope it's not this problem.

Yep, at idle was the worst. It sounded like a Singer sewing machine.

Well crap. Could you hear it from inside the cab? I can't hear it from inside, but when I stop at a drivethru or something I hear it with my window down. No tick can be heard from inside. How loud was it on yours?

I heard my V6 ticking at idle while standing outside mine yesterday. My 4Runner used to make a similar ticking noise and it was just the fuel injectors firing. That is what I thought the noise was in my Tacoma.
