Just wondering something about these clutches.

Ok well to tell the honest truth ive never been satisfied with these clutches.... they are pretty smooth ill give them that... it takes time to get good with em but thats a given becuase every clutch is different.. but what im wondering is has anyone ever noticed how loud and clunky these things are when you shift? if you havent, roll down your window and sit there at idle or with the truck off and just shift.... its sooo loud it sounds like the clutch is about to fall out from under the truck.... has anyone else ever noticed this? i was in my brothers honda integra the other day and turned off the engine and shifted and i could not hear anything... with the door open... i was amazed... am i anal or is my clutch messed up lol?

I think it's cause it's a heavy duty transmission made for towing, so the parts are bigger and the noise is prolly normal. Can you hear the noise when you are driving? If not, then who gives a flying shit? If you don't want to hear it then don't shift your truck when it is turned off.

I don't think thats it.

I came from a Ram with a stick that could handle far more weight and both the clutch and trans were more drivable and pleasant to live with.

My last Tacoma (a 98) had a great clutch and trans.

Toyota just did a poor job with this truck.

Went back to the dealer and he let me drive 2 other new 6 speeds, and they all made the same noises, at least they are consistent, so im not worried about it. But brand new i thought i was tearing my trans up, the 1-2 shift was the worst. Not my first manual either.

Damn, maybe your trucks are new, and need to break in? 19 months later mines been fine. And I got one of the early builds from Nov 04'. Will be switching the fluid out soon, hopefully make it even smoother.
