I pulled the spare tire out on my '05 access cab and the rim was different than the others on the truck.
The rest are the standard steel style rims with 5 semi-square shaped holes but the spare was a more curved steel design with 10 oval shaped holes around it.
I've never owned a vehicle before with a full sized spare that had a rim different than the others. Can anyone out there tell me if their Taco spare has a different style rim than the rest of your wheels?
Before I go back to the dealer to see if they'll get me a new one to match the others I'd like to know if this is just a fluke or is your spare rim different too.
They give you a cheepy steel wheel as the spare. It is normal, for us and just about every other auto manufacturer. I have what you have. My normal wheels are the TRD Off Road.
he said steel rim.... although his question caused me to look. on my sport i also have a steel rim spare. must be s.o.p. for toyota. probably couldn't use a typical donugt rim on a truck needs to be able to carry a load.
That's normal. Every manufacturer does it on pickups... ...and probably higher end vehicles as well.
The only vehicles I've seen that have a matching spare wheel is ones where it is displayed on the back (Toyota FJ, Jeeps, etc.) where everyone can see it (it wouldn't look cool if they didn't!)

Actually our 04 4runner Limited has a matching rim (Same as the new taco sport rims) on the spare mounted under the truck. I think only the limited's have that.
That is what I have also. Cheapo full size black steel wheel.
i was under my truck today looking at my spare and i actually loved the look of it... it looked raw to me... the blackwall of the rugged trails were out and that wheel doesnt look to bad if you ask me lol.... i actually want a set haha
