I think my newer/bigger tires make a popping sound. Why?

I posted a thread about 2 weeks ago asking for pics of some 265/75/16 tires on the factory off road wheels. As you know the 75s are one size bigger than the standard 70. Anyway, I got the new tires last week or so. When I left Discount Tire and had drven for 1 mile or so, I heard a loud popping noise on one of the tires on the drivers side, maybe 2 popping sounds. Don't know I had the radio on. Well I heard that popping sound again a few days ago and then again today. It normally happens after driving the truck a mile or so and then it doesn't happen again. What the hell is going on?

Does an increased speed or change in temperature cause the tires to do something that might cause a popping sound. I would say its happened about 5 times or so. Before I go back to Discount Tire I'd like to hear what you guys say. Thanks again.

Don

I'll check in the morning. But why? Could they be loose, too tight?

Gen6

i actually work at a discount tire. make sure that they torqued the lugs down correctly. and if you got new wheels you are supposed to go back within 100 miles to get a retorque. i bet that they didnt torque it right though.

Hmmm, I have the same offroad wheels, just the bigger BF Goodrich AT tires. Thank you for the information.
