I guess the title says it all, but i was just kinda wondering why everyone blocks out their license plate numbers...Seeing that everyone does it is why i'm guessing this is a stupid question, because there's an obvious reason, but just thought i'd ask because i've been wondering it for awhile now. I think its more or less a security thing..... Its not as easy as it use to be but you can still track down alot of personal info from a tag #...

I don't blur mine out.

In California it doesn't matter, you can't go to the DMV anymore and request info from a license plate number.

Everyone sees your plate anyways.

I never have understood it cause people everyday sees your license plate while you are driving. Guess most people still fear the internet.

For alot of people who don't have alot of exterior mods but alot of goods inside, they don't want their car distinguishable to be picked off and jacked for their stuff

With a plate # I can run a back trace. Once I have your name and address I can get a full background check on you. Anybody can do it. Subscriptions to these services start at about $30. Also, bear in mind that big brother is watching. If you go out and do something stupid and post up pics don't be surprised if the cops show up.
