Unhappy After having my truck for only 3 months my windshield is cracked

I don't know what I hit yesterday on the freeway, may be a rock but I couldn't tell because it was dark.

Well anyways I called my insurance (AAA) and I can use an autoglass compnay of my choice but if I use their prefered company, Safelite Autoglass they would offer a lifetime warranty and take care of any other problems.

I asked my insurance what glass Safelite will use and they said "OEM equivalent." which I assumed was Safelite's own manufactured glass. I have heard horror stories about Safelite. I told my insurance I will use Safelite to install but they must use a Genuine Toyota winshield. They said it will take a week before they can replace it because they will have to order it.

Should I let another company install the Toyota windshield instead of Safelite? Or are Safelite installs ok and just their glass sucks?

When I reached AAA windshield claims department through touch tone prompts, I was connected to someone from the Safelite Autoglass Network.

I had my Tacoma for two weeks before someone on the freeway kicked up a rock and chipped my windshield. I still haven't gotten around to having it fixed. I had two windshields replaced using Safelite and I never had any problems...

I made it a year before I had to replace the windshield through AAA a local company did it ,no leaks or anything but they lost a wiper nut cover and covered my vin # somehow
Now there`s a bullseye just under and to the left of the rearview mount, I had it "fixed" but it still bugs me

I was in the same boat and my replacement expeirence sucked!!! Here was my thread: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t146909.html. I finally got my dash replaced Friday. It took them 7 1/2 hours but it is nice to have a fresh new dash. The dealer went the extra mile when they installed the new dash and added a bunch of foam insulation /gaskets to many of the parts when they put it back to gether. I hope I never have to go through that again!!!

I've replaced one windshield, and repaired one chip. Owned less than a year. I hope we aren't seeing a pattern.

I avoid the freeways at all costs. I also pay close attention when I do have to be on them.

I was on freeways all this weekend, going from mall to mall and not one single chip or anything.

its not a pattern, its bad luck, itll happen to any car going down the highway if a rock is hit right and hits the windshield. any window would crack froma rock going 70+mph.

this one positive thing I can say about massachusetts. Glass replacement is free for in an insured in Mass. No deductible, no hit on your insurance. Broken windshields are commonplace here with the bad roads and sanding that is done during the winter on snow covered roads.
