I purchased a factory fog light kit from Toyotapart.com for my 2006. The kit came and there was only a wire chart, no instrctions and the wires were basic wires, no pre-made harnesses. I have install kits for Hondas and PIAA kits before and thought about trying to figure out the Toyota factory harness and if there were pre-wired fog light wires in the it. I then decided that I would take it to the local dealer. They told me that it was one of the worst kits they had ever seen and that they needed to completly make a harness from scratch as the wires from the kit were way to short. Long story short, the dealer charged me $300 to install a factory kit that cost $350 to start. I wanted the factory fogs and now they are under warrenty, but did I get ripped off by the local dealer or Toyotapart.com? This is my first Toyota and I am not sure if this is the way they are.
I posted a similar thread not too long ago. I also bought the factory fogs from toyotaparts.com and was disappointed that for all that cash a harness was not included. Mine came with no instructions at all. jacksnodgrass made me aware of an 05/06 fog light harness on ebay for $20 which I bought last weekend. Expecting it any day now and will post back if it was all I needed. The fog light kit is overpriced (lamp housing is chinsy plastic) , but if you want the factory look in the bumper with no extra hardware additions or modifications, it is the safest bet. $300 seems high for the dealer to charge for install. Did they tap into the fuse box directly or just tap the + battery and run the 30-amp relay on the side with in-line fuses? You may have gotten a cleaner electrical install than a harness will give me.
They just tapped the battery and ran the amp next to the fuse box. I felt like I could have done that myself, but I figured there were wires already fixed to the main harness that could be used and the poor instructions gave you no idea of were to find them. If you get a good harness from a PIAA or some other light and adapt it to the Toyota parts you should be good to go.
I purchase a lot of parts from toyotapart.com, and I know they have good prices on the stuff they sell. The fog light kit is reasonably priced from the standpoint of the parts cost. Toyota does not make a "kit" like Honda and some others. The kit is assembled by dealers from the major parts and what are known a repair wires (the six inch length green wires). The list price for one light by itself is about $203.00. I just ordered the factory switch and repair wires (which are needed to connect to the switch) and used a PIAA 510 Ion Plasma kit in the factory locations. Much higher quality lights, full harness, factory Toyota switch. A bit of creative work to mount in the locations, but I'm happy for my money. P.S. the PIAA's came from the lite warehouse on eBay. Good service!
I bought the kit from Toyotapart.com for my 2006. It took me about an hour to install. Yes,I did have to make up the harness going into and out of the switch, and from the relay to the fogs. But the fog lights fit right, can be aimed properly, and if it gets wrecked trhe parts will be available easily from Toyota. Maybe you should have searched some of the forums on here or asked for a little help before getting raped by your stealership.
I installed my toyotaparts.com fog light kit yesterday. I took detailed notes with pictures and put together my DIM (did it myself) in PDF format. I can't post attachments here, so if anyone is interested in seeing what I did, post a reply or private message me with an email address and I will send it to you. It is about 1 MB, so dial-up users beware.

Sorry for the old thread bump, but this is all I found regarding the PIAA 510s.
These lights, being 4" seem like a great alternative fitment for the current Taco, but I am wondering about the extent of any mods to the bracket to bolt it up. How did the install go for you, ncpaladin? Do you have any pics to share (hopefully from the behind-the-bumper perspective)?
The set seems to run about $210, which includes a harness and relay, so it's hella cheaper... no pun intended.
I'm interested in purchasing some foglights so this is good information. My truck did not come w/ foglights. I did notice that where the empty area is for the foglights, that there is some wiring for the foglights already there. I was also hoping that the wiring would lead to the blank dummy covers on the lefthandside of the dash. I haven't been able to pop out the top 3 covers though, the bottom 3 were easy as I went behind the fuse area door and pushed them out f/ the inside. Anyone have any input if my 07 is pre-wired or not?

if you have wiring at the front for fogs, it should be there at where the switch plugs in, it will be the top left dummy. when i had my dodge, i got the whole mopar kit, which had the new headlight switch, as well as lights, and the little harness for the front of the truck, all for like $130, check ebay, just make sure its actually toyota parts.....

no, i don't believe their prewired, and you can remove the top dummy plugs by removing the lower dash, check the DIY section here at TN, it'll show you how.
I am also seriously interested in how to fit a PIAA 510 into the stock fog location, does the stone guard grill fit as well? I think that would look even better then stock ones.
and honestly if your gonna buy the OEM kit for $300 i would rather get this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-07...04384916QQrdZ1
It's about $120 shipped, wires, relay and OEM switch should cost about $60-80 more. it would be even less if you went with a cheaper switch, like a 4x4mods.com switch. Amber lenses look sweet too.
I was poking around behind the bumper cover yesterday while changing my oil, and I could see a lot more from there than I did from the front, with the cups removed.
There is a cheesy little steel bracket that comes down from the upper portion of the bumper cover area. It does look as though you could rig the 510's bracket to that bracket, and then the plastic tunnel opening of the bumper cover would help stiffen it all up. But seeing a picture of how someone else has done it would help for sure.
The size looks to be perfect, just a shave under 4", and not very deep.
