so i have a dc sb trd off road 4x4 auto and i was just wondering. when i drive my truck kinda bounces around a lot. but it only has 300 miles on it so maybe it is breaking in? idk. maybe this is how this truck drives. i am just used to my expedition. still love it. j/w and making sure that nothing is wrong. does your truck do this? kinda bounce around and feel every bump in the road.
It depends on what you mean by bounce around?? The Toyota will feel more stiff and solid compared to the american SUV. Because it is a smaller truck then your expidition; it will toss you around in the cab a bit more when you go off-road. Think of it as a bit more serious off-road vehicle. In the world of Off-Road there are very few production trucks that can come close to a Tacoma.
When my 06 Dbl cab 4x4 sport was new, I had the same reaction. I fiddled with tire pressure constantly and bounced from location to location. It actually felt "Broken", or as if it was abnormal and unrealistically "Bouncy" with what I once posted as "Busy-Ass-Wheel"when I hit the 5000 Mile mark both my wife and I noticed it had smoothed out considerably. She dosent ride in the truck but maybe once a month so I knew it wasnt just me acclimating to it. Sounds goofy but it did in fact get smoother and now with 13K it rides really nice and is very smooth and composed on most if not all surfaces that you will encounter in day to day driving. I spend a ridiculus amount of time in my truck and had it continued to bounce me up and down the road it would have been traded in as I use mine for work and average 3-5K a month during my peak season...Keep on Truckin'!
it's the TRD off road suspension... it will smoothen out a bit over time, and it will ride better with stuff in the bed until this happens... they even noted this on the edmunds report (most in this report is crap, but they were right about this...)

Its a truck, what do you expect? Its going to bounce around more because its lighter than your Expedition and the shocks that you get with the TRD package are valved kinda stiff.
If you wanted a cushy on-road ride, you shouldnt have gotten the OFF-ROAD package.

Toyota: Like other cars, only better.
Yesterday I was getting off the freeway and there were a couple bumps on the exit, I was going a little too fast and my rear end hopped up and I almost spun out.
Luckily the BFGs gripped the road and I got back to normal.
My truck is really smooth not bounce at all. Well yeah compared to and suv or car its bounce but for been a truck its really smooth. since day one mines been really good not bounce at all. Mabye its ur road conditon
I find the opposite to be true and I was wondering what you were comparing it to. My Tacoma has shocks that do very little to dampen the suspension. I think a better set of shocks would calm things down a lot. The chassis also seems to have a lot of flex and this is something I never saw as in issue in my Dakota. Not sure there is anything that can be done to address that.
thanks for your help guys. and norcal thats a funny story. haha . yea but thats what i thought , i did notice when i took it for some light off roading yesterday that it was very smooth for off roading. but i thought that over time it will smooth out. i still love my truck death. i only have 315 miles on it still . haha
The ride may smooth out somewhat over time, but dont hold your breath. As the gas in the shocks starts to break down they might not offer as much dampening, which will make the ride FEEL smoother, even though it down be.
Right now the shocks are new, so they are nice and firm, so the ride feels rough.
