Don't know if you don't try or Can't blame a guy for trying.
Figured "what the heck", don't know if anyone has tried this but figured if not, I'll give it a shot. What is it you might ask? Well, "BLACK TAILLIGHT MOD" and I would not recommend it. Picked up a spare taillight off of ebay (where else) and figured I'd give it a try. Well, bloodied up hand and finger later, I wish I didn't bother. Did the same concept as the "BLACK HEADLIGHT MOD" figuring I could just pull the pieces apart after heating it up. "I don't think so, Tim!" The lense is not held on to the backing with glue/tape of any sort. Almost like it was pressed when they were assembled. Once I broke all the lense out (had no choice since it broke as I started to pry it apart) I got the reflectors off and gave it a shot with the Krylon Fusion black (pics later). Even though the lense itself has a red/pinkish tint to it I think it would have looked cool. This mofo was harder to get the reflectors out than the headlights.
Pics to come before someone says "THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS".

interesting, i had something in mind a little different, kinda hard to explain, but i guess i will not get a chance since the tail lights dont come apart very easy.

Like I said, you don't know if you don't try.
I guess doing this would give you the same look as the Altezza taillights.
Here you go:
With some of the lense or lack there of on. Turns out that the reflectors were only held in by glue and would not stay in if you moved it.
The War:
The carnage: (hurts like a mofo).

There would be no issue with the DMV. We don't have inspections or anything like that.
The issue is with the cops.
Maybe a lighter film would be better, my friend got the darkest available.
They are a little more, sh*t who am I kidding, alot more strict here in NJ when it comes to those type of things. I love to tint my fronts windows but I'd get pulled over left and right in my area. Even with my Bro-in-Law on the force.
Ticket costs outweights costs of tinting the windows over and over...

Over here, they give you a $10 fix ticket. You remove the tint, show a cop, sign off the ticket and then drive immediately to your tinter and get it re-done. I have done it about 3 times with my old car.
For about 2 years now, I have not got pulled over for tint. I don't roll down my windows anymore. It seems like they don't care anymore.
I feel weird, almost sick if I am in a car with no tint. Sad, but true.
