tacoma purchase

new to the site.I was curious about what kind of price that I should expect to pay for a 06 tacoma 4x4 extended cab,v6,auto,power windows and locks, cloth interior? I live in central illinois and this is my first new toyota purchase and the stealer (dealer) that is local said sticker was to be expected and that if I had a trade that the trade in value would be lower due to the demand for toyotas right now?????????

Trade in value has absolutely nothing to do with the demand for the car that you are buying. I would find another salesman or another dealership for that matter. This should be notice as to the kind of service you are going to get there.

Do not pay sticker and don't step foot back into that dealership EVER!

Most people pay ATLEAST 2-3K under sticker price. Being that it is August you should be pushing for an extra sweet deal. The 07's are right around the corner, think about your resale value.

Sounds like you know exactly what you want... I would go to all the local dealerships websites and send an email to all the dealers internet sales department and say what you want, I did this exact tactic and paid below dealer invoice. Most of the time the internet/fleet dept aren't commisioned and just want to move vehicles.

You described my truck pretty well ... My sticker was about US$30,600. I paid $28K even, which was about $400 below invoice. There are better deals than mine, too, but my market is Toyota-crazy. I also had a trade-in which affected the overall deal a bit. I got more than I expected on the trade-in.

One of my dad's neighbors allegedly got the 4-dr long bed 4WD Tacoma for $4K below sticker in Denver. Nice...

$3000+ off MSRP would be a good price. Mine MSRP was $30200 but I got it for $26500

Never pay sticker. Check what invoice pricing is with all the options you want at edmunds.com or nada.com. Remember not all options are available when you pick it from stock. Dealers normally gets their stock with the most common options that sells. You may need to do some trade off depending on your needs. Never pay sticker, even with invoice dealer still makes money. Shop around with internet/fleet department around your area. They normally deal with unit sales rather than commisions.

Sticker was to be expected? Maybe in his dreams LOL!!

Rule of thumb around here is to lookup the invoice price on edmunds.com and try to pay about that. If you want great negotiating power get either the consumer reports package or fightingchance.com package and you'll have all the ammunition you need. Any salesman that tells you msrp isn't worth your time. I'd immediately tell him to take a hike and ask for a different salesman (I'd do that to his face on the salesfloor so everyone can see). When you find a nice salesman who wants to sell a truck, take a test drive and ask all your questions. Tell him that you know what you want to pay and you will give him the opportunity to match your best offer. Thank him for his time, get his card and tell him you'll get back to him with your price. Decide from your test drives exactly what you want on your truck and then get your internet quotes for the exact truck you want. Do this via phone, fax, email or internet quote links. Ask every dealer within whatever distance you are comfortable with going to get your truck. After you get quotes then call each back in order from highest to lowest quote and give them the opportunity to do better to get your business. Once you determine the absolute lowest quote call back that nice salesman and tell him the price and that you are ready to buy if he'd like to match it. If not then buy from the dealer with the lowest quote. Wait for your truck to come in and enjoy!

Great buying tips on http://www.carbuyingtips.com

BTW search around here for more info. I've answered this several times and there's longer discussions with other people's input and opinions to help you out more.

OK short answer to your actual question....invoice or under as you configure on edmunds.com. Especially with the end of the model year here. Remember to take off any rebates after the invoice price. Pay around invoice BEFORE any rebates are figured in.

My sticker was $29373.

I paid $28803.

I pretty much paid $500 less than sticker plus about $8500 in negative equity and accessories the finance guy offered me.

If I were you, wait for the 2007s!

EDIT: I didn't even get tie-down cleats! WTF!
