I'm purchasing an electric over the canopy boat loader. I need to get a 10 gauge wire from my battery all the way to my tailgate, so I will have power to the loader. Can anyone help me on how to tackle this. Is there an easy hidden route I can take. "Any" input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Easiest way I can think of is under the truck using the frame rail all the way back. Or, you could run it along the door jam all the way to the back of the cab, and from there route it out one of the drain plugs under the carpet. If you go the second route, there is already a grommet on the drivers side that all the factory harnesses go through. I got a 4 gauge wire through that, so a 10 gauge should be no problem.
I ran a similar wire to the side pocket by the ac outlet in the bed.
Very simple! I ran the wire over to the passenger side of the engine bay, dropped it down next to some wires that were already there, and ran it along the frame rail. There were various wire ties and brake lines to zip-tie the power cable to so it was up above the frame rail and away from everything else.
The side pocket/storage bin and AC outlet come out in one piece so you can fish the wire up through there from the frame rail if you want.
It's all above the frame so you don't have to worry about it catching on anything if you off-road.

If you have the trailering package, you already have a hot wire in the 7 pin trailer plug. Made for charging travel trailer batteries and the like, so I don't know if wire size is large enough for what you're looking at, but its on a 30A fuse.
Should be pin 2 top right when facing the connector, ground on p6, bottom left.

Get the in-depth electrical, get trailer towing, know everything about your towing package wiring.
huh.... Wish I'd know that sooner....
30amps is more than a cig plug is rated for I think. I saw one with instructions to use a 15amp inline fuse.
I woulda just gotten a 7-pin plug or adapter to something else to run my stuff! lol I think I saw a 7-pin to cig adapter at walmart. Maybe it was something else though.
