Ahhhhhhhhhh The Places My Tacoma Takes Me........

Last weekend was THE last weekend of our 9 day late season hunt so I wheeled to a place I`d scouted and boldly went where no sane person would go. Up the canyon on foot with a daypack and a plan, not to return until dark.
I made my way up a canyon and started skirting the area just below the lava rimrock jumping a small buck who made his way out about 300 yards away....... not what I`m looking for.....pass.........I continued working it slow and quiet stopping often to just kick it and observe.
About 10:00 am this guy and his buddy jump out from under a tree where they had been bedded and rocket up the hill behind some trees, one shot and whamo! Buck in the truck
By far my best Blacktail ever
I know I should be on some hunting forum and that some/most of you don`t hunt but with the exception of the bowhunting forums I mostly just lurk around, our spots are closely guarded keep it in the family kind of stuff and I want to help the newbies out but I can`t lie so it`s hard for me without getting too specific about where to go so I just stay out but I just had to tell somebody and I feel I can trust you guys
I had to go back DOWN to my truck for the empty backpack then back UP to the buck ( an hour and a half hike with the empty pack) cut him up right there where he fell then pack all the meat/antlers out
The wheelin out is always better with some antlers in the back
anyways, here`s some pics

Damn, that's a nice Buck! I used to go Bow hunting in Northern California with my Dad and Uncle before we moved up to WA. Beautiful area, wish I could go back, even if it was only for one season. Nice work JUNGLEMAN .

Nice pictures and nice buck jungleman!

I've been meaning to get back into bowhunting. For now, bird season's open and pretty much anything that flies...dies.

I love it when we can make use of the tacoma for all the things we enjoy

Nice Pix. Especially love the 2nd to last one. Looks like a great place to hang out, except if you're a deer.

Nice buck. Beautiful scenery. Have you green scored it yet? How much did it weigh? I'd guess about 175 lbs field dressed. I've got a few animals on the wall. 2 Whitetail, 2 Muledeer, 2 Elk, 1 Caribou, 4 Pheasant, and 1 Blackbear.

Thanks dudes
That`s kind of funny I ran around mineral Sunday with pop and 2 kids doe mountain, deer creek, turner mtn didn`t see anything so we headed back down to ponderosa, we hunted around the Ishi wilderness/black rock/Thehama wildlife area with the G-1 late C-4 tag

that`s impressive pb I should have gotten my mulie mounted I`d love to go hunt whitetail and caribou someday, I probably won`t score him although he`s definately going on the wall to keep my antelope and fuzzy horn bow buck from last year company. I`m more into the test sausage pattys cooking right now than the book, I bought a grinder this year so I can make my own salami and sausage. I have a few ducks I did myself gonna do a pheasant this year and learn how to do my own deer heads, who knows maybe I can get good enough to quit my day job

nice job on the elk mochedda lots of meat there

they get some good blacktails in washington bruyn just got to get out there and find them

cj, it`s pretty much what I live off of I love wild game

rtfm, they thought they were safe up there they just didn`t expect some insane maniac with no regard for his own personal safety to come sneaking into their bedroom you should have seen what I had to go through to get up there where they lived

musubi, it`s my lucky hunting truck, that`s buck # 8 that`s taken it`s last ride to the freezer since I got it. Tomorrow is the opener for pheasant then duck hunting sun. I feel another 500 mile weekend coming up

well the sausage is done and man is it good
oh, cam, I watched that episode the other night good stuff

Awesome Buck

Way to go. Looks like a wallhanger for sure.

I went out this morning for opening day of Missouri's general deer season and had my buck in the truck by 0745. Just wondering if I'm the first to have a deer in the bed of an 07 Tacoma? 2007 Tacoma 4X4 TRD Offroad Super White. Any other 2007 Tacoma owners?
