Funny little engine tick story

So it was 75 degrees today so I took andvantage of what should be the last warm day of the year and went out to Skyline Drive for a long bike ride. Lots of people were out there checking out the folieage: hikers, bikers, motorcyclists, people in cars.

I kept seeing this Taco, a silver access cab V6 Pre-Runner, which looked kinda like mine. People were stopping at all the scenic overlooks so it was easy to keep seeing the same vehicle.

So I roll up to him, start chatting..."nice truck, I have one too...where'd ya' buy it?"...etc... Were in front of the truck, its idling and his wife is sitting in it. So he pauses and says..."Hey, does your engine make that noise too? It bugs the SHIT out of me!"

Man I just laughed and said, "Oh, the engine tick. There's a TSB out on that.."

"What's a TSB?" So I suggested he come over here to TN and check it out, that lots of people have complained about it and most have gotten Toyota to fix it by replacing the manifolds. I told him although I don't have that problem, its a known issue.

I just thought it was funny since I was wondering if this tick actually even existed...but that kinda confirmed it for me! A guy who is not dialed into the truck like we are, and not on any Toyota forums.

So anyway, if he does come around, please don't slam the guy with the search function hot button. Just welcome him and steer him to the right info.

Oh, here's the obligatory poseur photo from todays beautiful ride...

First off, obviosly I did not take the picture since I am in it, so take your technical compaints to the lady I asked to press the button. No wonder you didn't get into med school.

I am finally comfortable with the term "old fart." Ya' know, it takes a lot of pressure off yourself, in terms of performance. I am also comfortable being a self-admitted vain poseur. I might even got some liposuction if this winter is not so kind to my gut. Why not?!?

You can stop putting j/k in all your posts. We get the jokes. Indian people are too kind. The kindest people on the planet, IMO.

Go ahead and bash him, I don't give a fuck.

hey, don't knock an effort to be diplomatic, especially in something without tone and facial expressions like postings and email. it's easy to unintentionally offend, and my friend/colleague from India is about as nice of a guy as you could ask for but has a huge rep for ticking people off by being incredibly blunt. (others would say downright rude) Doc- pls feel free to type joke, emoticons, whatever when responding to me -well, unless you intend to tick me off, then you should just leave it to my imagination...
