Question about axle shims?

I got my axle shims and the hole seems like it is 50% larger than the leaf spring center bolt. Are they supposed to like this?

Yeah. They're also only as long as the mounting spot is on the axle. You should of also noticed that both sides have a criss-crossed machine pattern in them. When you compress the u-bolts they bite into both the leafs and the mount. Mine are solid as can be.

I found this odd myself. My thinking is that you would have a better shot at getting each side exactly where you need it if the hole was smaller.

They're probably like that because they are not vehicle specific. Didn't case any prblems for me.

As long as the head of the centering bolt doesn't fit inside the hole on the axle shim it should be fine.

The head of the centering bolt is what fits in the hole on the spring perch to hold then in place. If the hole on the axle shims is too big and the centering bolt goes in flush, there's nothing to keep the leaf springs aligned on the perch.

Make sense?
