whats the deal with teflon wheels? Is it just popular now ?
Are people going to be cooking some eggs on them? Seriously is teflon more durable than paint or even powercoating? Or is it just the "in" thing right now?
I want to get a set of black wheels. I may just get mine powdercoated. I just cant see teflon being that durable.

well telfon black wheels aren't black cause of the telfon their black because they are powder coated black then teflon coated, teflon should be clear.
telfon might scratch easy but the real gain is in the ease of cleaning
Not really, but you're on the right track. The teflon coating helps to prevent mud/dirt buildup. What happens is, after a long day out on the trail tires tend to build up shit in the inside which in turn causes the tire to go out of balance until you clean the caked up mud off. The teflon coating helps to prevent this.

Ahh I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up.

Teflon is easier to clean, but it's actually softer than the powdercoat and can chip off more easily than just a regular powdercoat. This is what I was told by the guys at Boze Alloys. They offer teflon coating on some wheels.

Thats gonna be the big question about these wheels. I am kinda worried about this, myself. But, they can't be that soft or prone to flake. Look at all the sharp edges on the Chambers. Surely AR did enough testing on the finish to know that it would hold up fairly well. Especially since the same finish is used on the Mojave, a wheel marketed for off-road trucks. I mean, that was my logic behind getting them.
well i can say that the paint that they paint my chambers with arent very thick...at least in the bore hole...some of the paint was scratched off when the tire tech slide it on the rod for the dynamic tire balancer. I figure i will figure out some sore of centercap to cover it.
