Cleaning your side steps

I already searched and didn't find anything. I just ordered my side steps today and i was just wondering what how you guys wash them. Do you guys just use the same soap and water as the rest of your car or do you use something different? thx in advance.

I just wash them with soap and water when I do the tuck, then use an absorber (chamois) to dry them off. After I clean my windows with some Stoner's Glass Cleaner I usually use that rag to polish up the chrome.

Make sure you grease them up with Armor-all on the top where you place your foot or else they will surely squeek.

^I think there's a TSB for that

I don't do anything special, except that I use a different wash mit for my steps, wheels, and "lower parts", since they have a tendency to collect more debris. You could consider getting a steel or chrome polish (depending on what you bought) to really shine them up. I apply a top coat of wax to mine every 4-6 months for some xtra protection.

Just wash them like you do the rest of the truck. Car wash soap and mitt. Wash them last because they are dirty. You don't want to transfer sand back onto your paint with the mitt. Occassionally wax the painted, powdercoated, chrome part of the steps. Carnauba wax will really add some shine to dull looking powdercoat finishes.
