Metra Ipod Interface

Does anybody have the Metra Ipod interface? I couldn't find the USA Spec locally and got Metra. It works fine in my Tundra with A Scion HU, but I can't get the text to work. It says No Title. Does the USA Spec do this or do I need to use different id3 tags? Thanks for any help.

I have the metra adapter and i'm returning it today. The sound quality is great, however i was dissapointed because the text doesn't show on the stock radio. I instead purchased a Pioneer DH-5800 along with the iPod adapter, which will display text, albeit on one line, but i'll take that any day.

I don't think there's an iPod interface with factory HU that will display song info. Going with an aftermarket HU and interface is the only way, though you give up control of the iPod to the HU this way. Imagine pressing little buttons on the HU to scroll through your gigs and gigs of music just so your able to see the song info on the HU. That was something I definately didn't want to do. If the sound quality is acceptable, I'd stick to the factory HU and Metra interface. My $0.02.

I installed the Metra after having some problems with the USA spec (i think it burned outs so I replaced it) and it works great. Stock headunit and steering wheel controlls the IPOD functions. However, The display doesn't display tracks (it does display track #). In the end, the Metra cost ~$15 delivered on ebay so I kept it in. The USA spec was better cause I could hook up a portable dvd to the spec input (rca jacks).

Check out this auction for a similiar adaptor.

Thanks for the response. That's pretty much what I figured. The sound quality is good, but I'm deaf and it don't take much to impress me. I really don't want an aftermarket HU, so I guess I will just have to live without text.

i can't say i've ever used the metra adaptor before, but i am currently using the neo ipod adaptor. sound is great as well, and it does show the info of the songs on my radio.

i got it at www.nanorider.com

it's well worth it, if you want text.

i hope this helps.

ciao
