O I just brought my truck to the dealer because the check engine light has been on for about 500 miles so I decided to check the codes before I brought it in and I got PO420 and PO430. WTF? I looked up the codes and it said the catalytic converters or the O2s. My truck only has 34k on it and the exhaust is COMPLETELY stock. I have been having nothing but problems with this thing in the last 2k miles, First my blinkers, odometer, speedometer, reverse lights, airbag light, and gas guage stopped working, it had been happening for months but the dealer could never diagnose it until it completely went out, now this. The dealer told me that I might have to pay $126 for them to diagnose the current check engine light, can they do that? Sorry I guess I am just venting,,,,,
if its under warrenty you shouldnt have to pay shit. If they found it was a problem caused by you, and not a warrenty issue, then they would charge you the fee. But if its a warrenty fix, you dont have to. If they try to get you to, thell them to shove it and dont pay it.
Congratulations! You are now in the running for "most confusing title of the year". I think you might take "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan".
First off, buy a Scangauge. It costs $100 bucks but at least you will never have to pay another diagnostic fee again. Charge your friends $10 to check their CEL's too.
Second, you have some type of electrical system malfunction/problem. That much is clear. You haven't done ANY mods?
Tell them to start checking electrical connections, maybe replace the ECU. Get your paper work together and get ready for arbitration. Good luck.

I have a scan tool but that only tells me the code not the actual problem, I have an intake, short shifter, and some blue lights under the hood that have been there for over 30k miles.
My intake is a home made one, its a TurboXS Mass airflow section, 3in exhaust tubing, and a K&N filter. I haven't re-oiled my filter in a while, probably about 3-4 months.
The lights under the hood are wired into the parking lights and I haven't had any problems with the parking lights, they are on a different circuit then the blinkers and reverse lights.
the cats on the Xrunners are garbage.
Even N/A there are times when they have gone out (ask Gadget from URD)
BOTH of my cats are gone, and I have a permanent check engine light (go fast light).
po430 and po420.
Obviously mine are done because of the supercharger, but this is happening to N/A Xrunners as well.... only some.. not all.
They don't care about my intake, they said the cats should be in tomorrow.
Do the JBA Headers eliminate the cats? I havent looked where they are mounted exactly.
Whats the overall opinion on the extended warranties? With all this crap thats gone out on my truck in the last few weeks and the fact that my warranty is almost up is making me nervous. I talked to Toyota and they said that the 4yr 100k extended warranty is $2058, think its worth it? Anyone know of anyway to get a better price on the warranty? Thanks for all of your help and advice.
