Motors are made in Japan, and tranny is made in the U.S.

I was told by the dealer that the 4.0L is assembled in the US. I don't know the location but I think it is Alabama or Georgia.

The 1GR-FE is built in Tahara, Japan.
Frizzzo, all of the beds are made in Mexico. Some double cabs are completely assembled there as well.
Not sure where the transmissions are actually produced.
All Tacomas are then assembled at NUMMI, minus the small percentage of DCs assembled in Mexico.
The engines are definitely made in Japan.

Here's an Idea. Read the news section on Toyota's website. There they tell you where the production facilities are located and what they do. I think I read there that the newer 4.0's and maybe the trannies are made in Alabama at a new plant. Some are still made in Japan too.
