Thumbs up a hello from new member

Hello folks. I have been reading threads on here and have learned quite a bit. A few months ago, I was on the verge of almost buying a new Nissan Frontier when Nissan offered $1500 rebate.

At the last second, two things happened. At first, I really liked the appearance of the Frontier, but after a while I grew not to like it too much. It looked a bit cheap and the interior sucks. I don't think it's a bad vehicle but the Taco looks much better.

The other thing that happened is I discovered a few things on my credit report that prevented me from getting a good finance rate. But now that it's good and I've secured a good rate

This week, I'm going to go do a bit of car shopping and hope to get a good deal on a 07 Prerunner Access Cab

welcome to TN. you should go ahead and spring for the 4x4. unless you're sure that you won't regret having a 2wd in a couple years. just weigh all your options and haggle, haggle, haggle.

these are all things to consider thanks for the replies..

I have heard the toyota dealereships take a tough stance on price, but my last car was an Acura RSX-S (great car after some clown with no license and no insurance decided to run a stop sign and total it), and after much haggling, i got the price I wanted.

If you find an 06 on the lot similar to what you want, you would have a good chance to get a good deal. That happened with mine. I was looking at the new 06 models last December, but they had one new 05 model left that was actually nicer than I thought I could afford. They wanted badly to get rid of that last 05, and made me quite a deal to take it off their hands!

i don't know much about it, but look into costco (i think it is costco, but maybe sams club) i didn't find out until after i bought my truck, but i guess you can get a real good price with out any haggling through costco. it is worth checking out once you find the exact style of truck you want.

Yeah, I've heard that Costco sells em pretty cheap. Edmunds.com forums has some good info about prices and where to buy Tacomas.

Alot depends on where you live. If you are in a big enough city so that there are 2 or 3 dealers within 30 miles, then you've got the leg up. Work through their fleet/internet departments, and get price quotes over the phone or via email. This is the best way to get the price you want, and you can avoid the sales tactics they throw at you when you're on site. Email is best, since you can request that they give you the spec sheet via email of the truck they are quoting.

The only trick is that you need to know exactly what you want, and you need to be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Good luck, welcome to TN, and good choice leaving the Nissan behind.

heck, there are about 14 Toyota dealers within 40 miles. I live in "Tacoma", WA lol

but yes, i think i'll send em the ol fax/email approach and see what happens. I'm even open to ordering one. I'm antsy to get one, but I can wait..

Welcome pooperscooper!

I think a Prerunner Access Cab is just perfect...but them I am a bit biased! You'll love your new Tacoma whatever you end up getting.

Welcome, and enjoy the truck. I would definitely get a 4x4 if you are going to be driving in snow at all.

I just bought my new 06 about 3 weeks ago. Already added 1300 miles to it. Very nice truck. I was hooked by the looks of the new Tacoma and finally pulled the trigger. I got the double cab prerunner version. I have always had 4X4 but really never used it so this time, it was 2 wheel for me.
