fuel tank capacity

Has anyone bothered to check the actual capacity on the '06 Taco? I let it run to well into the E ( bad idea, I know) and filled up at under 18 gallons. Any ideas?

21 gallons. I've gotten 450 miles out of a tank of gas. I was running on fumes. I've drove 60 more miles after the fuel light came on. It's not a good idea to do this in hot weather. The fuel cools the fuel pump.

Yup. I've gotten 24 mpg on a trip before, but it was really flat roads. Keep it below 70 MPH, no fast accelerating or braking, fresh wax job, tonneau cover, aired up tires, electric fan mod, high octane fuel.

Pb isn't exaggerating. The 4x4s get good gas mileage too at the right conditions.

I once went close to the E and loaded 19.7 gallons. Wouldn't dare drive more than that.

And with bigger tires we should be getting better mpg at cruising speed.
I'll see how it goes this weekend w/ the winter tires.

Hey Toku, you gotta love seeing this on your dash
Taken right when the low fuel warning light went on. I have the 6spd manual. 87 octane.

Running Chevron 91 octane, I was able to get about 350 miles under what I would consider mild driving conditions.

I have started and Excell spread sheet and hope to keep up with the gas mileage and maintenance on it. So far with the 3 tanks of gas I have put in my truck I am averaging 20.315 MPG and the most gas I have put in it is 18.9 gallons. I guess I have a few more gallons to go before I walk.

yup .. when the light litup on me I drove another 10mins on around town and filled up ... 17.8G
I have the SG-II set at 4% correction and it's 0.01G difference. I fueled up yesterday and the pump let off at 12.79G and the SG-II said I used up 12.8G.

Like Pb, I notice I can get 22MPG cruising 68~70MPH(reading on the SG-II) with tail wind (I880 Southbound). I go back the opposite way (I880 Northbound) and I get 19.7MPG with headwind.

I just had the tonneu cover installed on Saturday (pics to come) and wow the truck picks up to 80MPH without effort, the truck feels lighter on the freeway due to less tailgate drag. It was a strange feeling.

I just filled up tongiht, put in 18.8 gallons. I drove an additional 8 miles when the fuel light came on. Total miles on the tank of gas, 290......I guess that's what happens when you install the TRD CAI and exhaust. I need to lighten the load on my foot and see if I can squeeze out a few more miles. Thank god it's not my daily driver.
