Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of me taking delivery of my 2006 Tacoma 4x4 Doublecab SR5.
Best MPG attained: 24mpg Worse MPG attained: 16mpg
Mileage: 12548
Type of Driving: 80% city, 20% highway/other
Best Mod: USASpec PAToy iPod interface (it has been acting up on me lately, tho) 2nd best Mod: Undercover Tonneau Other Mods: Pop n Lock (not impressed), Lund Screen Grill (cool)
Problems encounted: Dash gap, which was repaired by dealer (pre TSB). Fixed several months ago, and is still tight.
Biggest load carried: 700lbs of sod.
Most fun: Tearing up gravel logging roads on the Olympic Peninsula.
Future Plans/mods: New tires (likely bfgs), new rims, tube steps, new bulbs. Maybe down the line an Eclipse in-dash DVD with Nav.
It's been a great year, and this has been a great truck. Here's to many more years!
Hopefully my first year will be as good. Somehow I think I am going to surpass your mileage total though. I took my taco back to have the tires redone, twice. They are correct now. Other than that, no problems.

My first year was excellent! Except for my shitty 16mpg the whole time. (all city and hard driving) Other then that, great truck. Haven't had any tranny problems or anything yet (knock on wood).
glad to see good results after year 1. i'm right at 6 months for me, and over 9500 miles already. love my truck, but honestly, my mpg isn't much better with my 4 cylinder prerunner. kinda wished i got the double cab, cuz i could have gotten it for the same price as my access cab.
my best mpg so far is 25, and worst is 20 (going 95 mph on the freeway coming back from vacation)
Things I don't like:
1. Shock absorbers want to fight against the road.
2. Something is rattling in the wind. You can barely hear it. Have not localized it yet.
3. Light grey floormats was a definate mistake. They are getting dirty and looking bad.
25/20 is pretty good mileage no matter how you slice it. When I got 24mpg last summer, I had to re-calculate to be sure that I was right. I haven't seen 24 mpg since then.

I'm with you on the floor mats. It's a constant battle to keep them clean. I have some cheapo plastic all weather floor mats now but am going to trade up to the Husky liners.
My only other regret (if you can call it that) is the short bed is a little too short for me. Sometimes I could use more length to fit longer items in there (furniture, etc). It ain't a deal breaker for me though.

Yes the shortbed is kinda short. But it does fit into my garage nicely. My neighbor can't get his LB DC into his and then walk around it. Also, backing out of a parking space is easier with the SB.
