tailight bulb replacement

Has anyone had to replace the bulb in the tailights yet? I was wondering how you got to the bulb? Does the whole assy. come out by removing the bolts inside the tailgate?

Yes, you will have to remove some bolts. I don't remember exactly which ones they are, but your owner's manual says how to remove the assembly and replace the bulbs (look under blub replacement in your OM index).

Let down the tailgate. There are 3 bolts on each side of the jamb. You only need to remove 2 of them. The top and bottom bolts. They're the 10mm bolts that don't have a washer under them. Then pull out on the light. It will pop loose. Then you gotta twist it a little bit to get the light out. Then you can easily get to the bulbs.

Is this the same on the '07? I thought it was the bolts WITH the washers. On my '07, I attempted to get the taillight off, but didn't have too much luck. I was able to get the top portion un-snapped, but not the bottom. Now I'm wondering if I had the correct bottom bolt removed, even though I did remove the one the owner's manual suggested.

It's the top and the bottom bolt. Not the one in the middle that's different. Just grab the light and pull straight back real fast. It will pop loose.
