A Reminder on your OEM Air filter

After Changing my oil/oil filter I totally forgot to check my Air Filter. A week later I remembered so I checked the air filter and sure enough it was pretty dirty. There were a lot of leaves and dirt on it. I vacumed the filter off and it clean it pretty good- a temporary fix until I buy me a new air filter tomorrow. I usually check the air filter periodically and clean it off just to make sure it gets the max air flow. I do notice the difference when its cleaned. My point is "don't forget to check your air filter" every little bit helps to get better MPG's nowadays!

I have 15,500 miles on my taco. I usually check the airflter once a month and vacum it off just to get the dirt and leaves off. You have 6k I would check to see how dirty it is and if it is pretty dirty I would clean it off. I'm not sure what the recommend miles to change the filter is but I usually go by how dirty it looks. I'm in constructions and the sites are pretty dusty so I check and replace the filter sooner than usual.

Good heads up on this one. I haven't had mine off the truck yet. What the hey, it never hurts and you are correct, it may help the MPG out some.

I was really surprised to see how much small leaves were on the air filter. On my other cars I don't recall seeing any. I guess the configuration of the air vent under the front tire wall has something to do with it.

You guys should check your secondary air filter too, just to be on the safe side.

I havent checked it yet, busy working, but todays my last day this week so I will be checking it when i get home. i have noticed my gasmilage has gone down quite a bit actually. Maybe it is the filter. I hope I get some of my mpg back after I clean it. Damn leaves. Why can't they stay on the trees.

I hear ya on the leaves. Every time I drive through them I'm thinking how much are going on the air filter.
