I haven't heard anything. It's always a possibility, but I doubt it. I'd rather have a little bigger V6 than a small V8.

Who said the 4.7 is history? They are going to offer the new tundra with the 4.0 V6, the 4.7 V8, and for the power hungry the new 5.6 V8. From everything I've read the 4.7 isn't going anywhere,.... yet.

i wouldnt mind seeing the 4.7 V8 on the Tacoma platform...some people just dont have a need for a BIG truck but would like the power/torque of the V8

seems like i heard something back in '04 or '05 about that. i've also heard that they are working on a 3.0L diesel for the taco's. they have them over in europe, but not exactly sure if they are going to come here. i think they are probably waiting on the gov't to get done with all the new regulations for diesel engines. how sweet would that be. you take how reliable a diesel is anyway and add in toyota engineering and quality. you'll be buying a new body and all. keep the same motor and tranny for life. wow, that's scary.

When i was getting my 4runner i was talking to one of the service tech at the dealer about this tacoma they had on their lot. He said that there were rumors of a special packaged Tacoma coming out in summer 07. Possible diesel or v8 engine. But his also been hearing alot of stuff about toyota vehicles. Like the supra coming out earlier then expected. He also mentioned that a Tacoma with a v8 was suppose to come out when they launched in 05. But due to the high gas prices Toyota didnt want to risk poor sells.

I recently picked up a 2007 4.0L Tacoma and looked into a TRD Supercharger. I had one on a 1999 4Runner and would like one on my Tacoma. I e-mailed TRD and got a response that TRD is developing a supercharger with expected availability fall 2007!
