Question Drivetrain shudder/vibrations from lifting your Taco?

I've been toying with the idea of lifting my Taco. I had just decided to hold off on it for awhile, but the current group buy on the Toytec kits is really making me think about it. My concern is the number of people complaining about drivetrain shuddering and/or vibrations at startup and at certain speeds after lifting their Taco.

Anyway, I've read the posts and don't really want to rehash the issues themselves too much, but I want to get a good idea of how common and how fixable these problems are.

Lol, it's that time of year! Yeah, the lifted Tacos look much better than the stock height, and I don't mind the decreased fuel efficiency, but it wouldn't be worth any added shuddering or vibration issues.

I like the way my TRD Sport suspension handles, but I would like a little improvement in the ride (I know, I know, it's a balance). I'd also like the added height, but don't want to experience the issues that so many people seem to complain about after they lift their Tacos.

I actually didn't lift my taco. I just put helper springs (super springs) on the rear and that was enough to give the truck drive-line vibrations. It only raised the rear about half an inch. This suspension seems to be very sensitive. Never thought and inch would make a difference. I could not believe that this could be the problem. It is ashame because the springs did perform well, but I just could not live with the constant vibes. I still get a slight shudder at take off, but all of the new 07's I have driven do the same thing. Just a bad design of the drive-line I guess (two piece drive shaft). The vibes I experienced came at 0-20 mph, 20-0 mph, a constant speed of 20, a constant speed of 8 mph and when slowing down from highway speeds. Everything will be fine for the winter, but when spring and summer come I will need to find another solution to strengthen the rear end. As it stands now, it will bottom pretty easily if I have adults in the cab and or a good sized load in the bed when going over large dips in the road or very large pot holes. I know this truck is made more for recreation than for work, but I consider camping and towing recreation and It will bottom out if I have it loaded with gear and people.

I informed Gerry at Super Springs and he is going to send me a re-engineered set of springs for the 05 and up Tacoma. They are supposed to be shorter and have longer shackles so they won't raise the ride height which we think was causing the problem. oh well, I still love the truck, just need to get this one aspect fixed.
