I know there is another thread about this, but here are some pics I took tonight. I bought the filter from NAPA. I could not believe how dirty it was in there after only 27,000 miles!!!
1)Although the same NAPA Part#, the MFG inking is different than the one I got last Saturday. Ours matched the OEM markings on both the original and replacement I bought from Yota 3 weeks back. Another TN'er noted he thought NAPA's were off-branded. Seems like some might be, but this is not to say anything definite about the quality of the one you have here.
2)All 3 of ours had both upward and inward directional arrows on the 'stiff' side of the filter as your air flow seems to be. I think maybe that yours is now installed 90 degrees off???
I think the filter might be upside down. I'm pretty sure the airflows upward. I know the arrows on mine are pointing ^ and thats how it was from the factory.
Ours pointed up as well, but unsure as that meant air flow direction. I think that I've read here that the air intake is between the hood an windshield. Worth checking either way. IMO.

Mine is installed correctly. It was too wide with the rigid parts to the sides. it fit perfectly as shown. Snug as a bug.

The air flows from top to bottom. If you don't believe me, just stick a sheet of paper in there while the fan is running and it will suck it downward. Be sure to hold on tight!
A fan like this works by drawing air in through the center and out through the sides of the cylinder.
just pop off the plastic shock thing on the right side and squeeze together the sides and it folds right down. getting the shock back on can be a little tricky, but it is not too bad.
Got mine installed a few minutes ago. It wasn't too bad but I needed a pair of fliers to get the air compartment off. The OEM filter had the arrows going up.
