Speaker Spec Question

ok...gonna put a new head unit in the truck this weekend. was reading thru the manual and it warns that if you have speakers that are not rated to handle the headunit, there could be fire, death, destruction and so on. does anyone know the ratings for what the stock, non-jbl speakers in our trucks are?? (save the speaker...save the truck....)

The stock speakers are 20watts. They should be fine but I upgraded mine to JL Audio. Sounds alot better.

Which JL speakers did you go with? Looking to do same- curious what adapter is needed (tacotunes?) to go seps up front versus a 6x9 coax/triax. Want to push it all w/ a JL 500/5...(oh yeah....sub box going in, too).

I used XR-650 CSI's in mine. They are on a JL 300/4 I have a seperate 250/1 driving 2-8W3's. It is awesome! Best sounding system that I have had in any vehicle. It's not going to produce SPL but the SQ is superb. The XR series is rated for 75 watts/ch so mine are a good match.

I will...it'll probably take me twice as long as it should! I made all of the connections to the wiring harness this evening. It's all ready to go for tomorrow...
