Well, it finally happened.

Mr. CHP finally had some time in his day to pull me over and say hello.
One of our locals was cresting a hill as I went over going the other way and hit the brakes hard whipped it around and hit me with the red light on a series of corners where there was a very limited shoulder and no where safe for two vehicles on the side of the road.
I guess I should have caused an unsafe hazard and been a dick and pulled to the shoulder right there so we could cause an accident or he could get run over when he stepped out of his cruiser but I kept going until it was safe to pull two vehicles off the side of the road with visibility for oncoming drivers.

My crime, you ask?
I have tinted windows
all that for tinted windows?
BFD-good for you Mr CHP you`re doing you`re part to keep our highways safe

Shame on me for customizing my vehicle, shame on me for not wanting truckers sunburn and getting rid of those annoying lights in my mirrors that blind me at night, shame on me for being conservitive and not tinting as dark as I wanted to in the first place.

I`m a bad citizen

I`ll be taking a timeout in the corner if anybody needs me
actually I`ll be in the garage removing my door panels so I can ruin $50 bucks worth of tint so I can get the stupid thing signed off and re-tint ( after I clean a pile of ducks first )

What a bunch of BS!

They say you can't have tinted windows because the officers can't see in to see if you have a gun. Sorry but I could have a gun in my lap pointed out the side of the door with the WINDOW down, and they would never know it.

You got off easy, he could of screwed you over for the wheels sticking out of the wells too far.

I know, I feel the same way.
I purposely didn`t tint as dark as I wanted to because of the whole they need to see inside the vehicle thing

They`re on this kick lately where they`re hammering everyone with tint and no front plate, the kids with the fast and furious cars are running around downtown with their windows down in winter

shhhhhhhhhhhh...............I don`t have a front plate
guess he`s saving that one for next time or maybe he didn`t notice because of the mask

I did get off easy, I know he could have picked me apart and he gave me the fixit that gets signed off and thrown away, the next one will be the one that costs money and goes through the court

My buddy got pulled over in his car and got ticketed for everything from the led on his amp to the modified exhaust/intake etc. etc.

I've heard they are actively looking for window tint around here... just curious, how dark was your tint? The last campaign for tint was in the early Nineties, I think. It was just a matter of time before they did it again. In the last few years I've noticed a lot of very dark front side windows in the Redding area.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks back. Not CHP, but Fremont police.

Get the whole speech about how its fine to tint all the rear windows but not the fronts, because then the cops can't see if the 'bad guys' have a weapon. So I ask him happens if the 'bad guy' happens to be sitting in the back seat? He just gave me a puzzled WTF look and walked back to his car. Never did get an answer.

Not really...

Some cops are just dicks about it. I've had numerous highway patrol and city police drive by me and see the tint without incident. It's the cops who are bored and have nothing to do who get you for stuff like that. They use it as an excuse to pull you over and look for something else wrong with the car. When they cant find anything, they hit you for the tint.

They tend to dwell on certain types of vehicles as well. Drive a nice BMW or Mercedes with the corporate look and you'll never get pulled over.

So true
If you drive around in a lifted truck or a hot car you`re a troublemaker

Some of the things they pick to campaign against are so stupid

He didn`t care about anything else but the tint
Says, the reason I pulled you over is you have tinted windows I said c`mon you can`t be serious he says yes I`m serious you can`t have tint on this one or that one up front and started writing it up
guess they told every officer to get a quota at the morning meeting

There are a lot of vehicles around here with super dark tint (100+ degree summers) so they won`t have any problem getting the numbers they`re looking for.
I went 3 over legal which is nothing, just enough to cut the glare from the sun and the lights @ night.

I guess what started the whole thing is somebody bought a used vehicle at Lithia and crashed, blaming it on the tint .RPD set up a tinted window task force and designated officers specifically to look for tint.I guess CHP is getting onboard too.

Police love to enforce things that will generate money for the state. They are a business just like any other. They need to show a "profit" Or NO raises!!!

Yeah but this one generates nothing but a pita for me
rip out the tint, get it signed off, then they throw the ticket away

All it generates for them is numbers of tickets written yipee nice work boys

I`ve been running this tint for 2 years I know he`s noticed before it`s not like the old days where they`d pull me over for something stupid and search my vehicle because they knew my car/truck and were just trying to catch me doing something wrong because obviosly I was trouble what with the long hair and loud exhaust I had to be breaking some kind of law.
Tint ticket and he was on his way
he must`ve seen another vehicle go by with tinted fronts
shame on them for modifying the stockness of their vehicle

This is why I have a radar detector. "Radar traps" have nothing to do with safety. They are set up to raise revenue in places where the speed limit is purposefully set low. I figure a radar detector is just levelling the playing field.
