North Gainesville Off-Roading with pics (Sorry dial up)
So, I am getting anew job it looks like and I went to show my buddy where it was. Behind the place there are some woods and I saw a trail with no keep out signs or anything, so we went back there. Well, I played for a minute and called my buddy Justin. He drive the '05 4x4 with 2.5 spacers and BFG MT... Here's some pics... I was VERY impressed with how my truck handled as I outdid him on the course... mainly due to my locking rear, V6, and being more experienced/ballsy/stupid than him... we had a blast though and I didn't even spin a tire... this thing can crawl up steep angles from a stop without spinning when this locker is on no problem... Can't wait until it rains because there's gonna be a ton of mud in there.... I love these trucks!
Going down... this was VERY steep... here's the pic of the back and one from the inside looking down forward and out the back... at the ground...

OK, the locking rear diff makes both of your back tires drive and at the same speed... as opposed to the open rear diff, where only one tires drives. It seriously doubles your traction for off-road. and you can use it over 5 mph, just not recommended because since both rear wheels want to spin the same rate, makes it hard to turn as the outer wheel needs to move faster through a turn.
The best way to see the difference between open and locked is to take off fast on a straight away and peal out with it open. Now try it while locked. You cannot spin the tires on the truck when it's locked on straight pavement. Or go up a grassy, steep hill without it, you'll make a rut from spinning out... pop in the button and go for it locked... no problems!
Not sure this is the best explanation, but it really makes a HUGE difference.... ALMOST as big a 4 wheel drive. Really makes boat ramps less stressful too when they're slippery...

As far as telling how steep the hills really are...forget about it. Going up/down them in person is the only way to see how steep they truely are. Pictures and video really don't do them justice unfortunately.
I take it your truck is stock? Doesn't look lifted to me.
How close to Tampa Bay are you? I might be down there for Spring Break to visit a buddy who just got restationed from Alaska.

I hear you on the have to be in the truck to judge... my truck is mainly stock.. .just exhaust and small mods... I am lifting it this weekend most likely with the Toytec 3" OME lift. Should ride really nice as I got the longer travel shocks. I am about 2 hours from Tampa, but I grew up there, and I am there a lot... I am guessing MacDill AFB? Shoot me a PM, there's a ton to do there and between there and here.. we can go wheeling a few places around the Ocala National Forest and a few others...
