Well at 33k miles my Tacoma just wasnt' going to make the winter on the stock dunlops. So I the tire search went on. I read endless threads and came to 3 conclusions.
1. I liked the look and style of the BFG all terrain the best,
2. Bridgestone REVO's probably would be the best tire for my needs
3. Both were damn expensive.
I was looking to change from my stock size of 245/65R16 to 265/70R16. But the biggest thing killing me was price. Especially between the holiday's, mortgage payments, paying for my new quad, etc. I had to cut back somewhere. I went to my local tire guy that I usually get everything through. He immediately didn't want me to buy either tire, not becaue of they bad, he agreed they are great tire, but because they are too much. He reccomend a toyo but I wanted something that in my eyes was a bit more agreesive. He then reccomended the tire he has on his Wrangler. A Cavalier Sport King. He's been in business in town for 20 years, I trust his suggestion. it was the price that got me. $112.50 installed. Cost me $500 cash out the door with a front end alignment.
Say what you will, I know some of you will hate them, other won't mind, but here they are (and I do apologize for a dirty truck)
Well you can't argue with the price. You think those look more aggressive than the Toyo's? Hmm...
How's the ride? Noise? I hope they work out for you. You never know with tires but if the shop owner is using them that's typically a good sign.
I guess the first test will be when we get our next snowfall, of course that's going to be like another 2 weeks. WTF. Why is it 50 degrees here again?!? I thought we finally turned the corner on Friday.

I ran these tires on my 83 pickup, my 75 and 76 FJ40, and my 2001 Ford Ranger. These tires in my opinion are the best you can get for the price. I had never gotten stuck in them and they are a long lasting tire, with a strong side wall, and very good in the snow. I have been told....(Not sure if it is still true) that these are an off brand BFG. I will actually be able to make it through the winter on my BFG's, but come spring I am definetely going to get them.
In person side by side boone, they definately have a more agreesive (this is relative speaking) look in my opinion. Like most tires, i think they look better in person then in pictures. But so far I'm happy. They're quiet on the road, but the true test will be in the snow.
I did part next to a truck that bfg all terrains, they're defiantely a different tread pattern, but they still looked similar if that makes sense. LOL My wife thinks i'm nuts with all the tire talk I have been doing.
I am gonna go with these later once get lifted... They are in the same ball park price wise... and I could find info on them... http://www.generaltire.com/generator...master_en.html
For 265/70/17's @ tirerack.com

I hear ya on price! I was looking at $150+ per tire and said f-that! I ended up getting Kumho Road Venture AT KL 78's for $102 each. They were $487 shipped from Tire Rack, and had a $40 mail in rebate. Which showed up several months later, but it arrived. So far not too loud (inside the truck) but people can hear the truck coming. Seem ok for what little off-roading I've done since I got them. Will see how they handle snow. I probably have between 10 and 15k on them now.
add to that mounting and balancing and a front end aligment and the price goes up to around $200 plus more. I just bought and EFI controller for my quad that set me back $215. I've got limited funds, so I had to makes cutback where necessary. Unless I want credit card debt. Been there paid off that. Don't want to get back into it. Plus the wife would shoot me. LOL
