Colder air = more power...
I just driller some L brackeys. and cut a piece of pl glass, and screwed it done it selaed it with the rubber seal on top. then got rubber and closed the hole. The wrapped the instake tube.. Dosent look pretty but it work....
$16 a roll from home depto
L brackets then wing nuts to tighten it done, i have to slide my hand under the glass to hold the bolts while tighten.
the rubber glued in cut the hole so the intake will fit tightly...

I didn't realize you had the actual K& N kit under there. That was a pretty good price you got.
I thought you built the whole thing out of cardboard or something when I first saw it.
Great idea but good god keep your hood closed when around other Taco enthusiasts.. that is Super Ghetto!! You shoulda spent another $30 and got a Volant which already has the box around the filter. Just out of curiosity where do ya suppose the colder air might be coming from?? Pretty sure it's the same temp in that little corner as it is everywhere else under the hood. Only way to get true cooler air is have your intake outside of the engine bay.
i suppose if there is a factory duct, which there should be under all that then the insulation would keep engine heat from transfering into the air coming from the duct, other than that its pretty useless, pluss i believe its not that much of a gain to drop a couple of degrees unless you are boosting.

Well the cold air is coming the inside fender, just like the trd one. it feeds off that. and the duct wrap keeps the plastic parts of the kn from getting heat soaked. My last car was a supercharged regal so it was all about the colder the air can get.
I guess i should clean it up some, i was kinda just throwing it toghter..

should hook up with someone in your area with a scangauge, if I heard right they will tell you the intake temp, then you can compare, with and without the shielding if its not to much work to go back and forth.
Probably works good. But looks.....ummm...how should i say this....Way to cheap for our trucks. It looks like it is more suited on a 95 honda civic hatchback. But if it give your more power then who gives a ****
If I were you and so concerned with running cooler, I would of searched for a upgrade themostat and radiator cap before I made my engne bay look like a space ship.
But, to each his own... Let us know if you get abducted by aliens.
