Headlight on Dash Indicator

Has anyone figured out how to disconnect the little indicator that tells you your headlights are on?
more specifically, has anyone figured out a way to switch sources for the indicator?
I would like to run my behind the grille yellow fogs I use with the running lights through it to remind me they are on.

I use the headlight indicator to alert me if my headlights are actually on, because the gauges can always be on, I sometimes forget if my headlights are on or not

The problem for me is the headlights go off when you turn off the key and open the drivers door.
The fogs are wired hot so I can use just them alone as "stealth" lights and I have left them on overnight twice now
I know I`m a moron
I`m going to set up an indicator but I figured since that headlight one has annoyed me since day one I might as well put it to some good use.
