Steering shaft extension

I'm just curious, but does adding a lift ever cause the need for an extension in the steering wheel shaft? And by not adding one with a lift, would it cause the steering shaft to be prone to damage?

Thanks for any input

Only if you were going with a body lift. With a suspension there is no effect.

Thanks AN!

As a body lift attaches straight to the frame, I'm taking the spacer lift as a cheap suspension lift.

Would anyone happen to know why the body lift causes strain on the steering shaft while the suspension lifts doesn't?

Sorry, I'm trying to prepare myself for this warranty service discussion.

With a body lift you are creating space between the chasis and the body essentially pushing them further apart, your steering shaft is only so long. With a susension lift all one is really doing is pushing the control arms down reducing down travel but increasing up. The same range of motion is still in play as it was when it was stock. There is no stress or increased gap created between the body and the steering shaft. Google lifts and you'll find tons of info out there.
