I got in today and changed a few more LEDs

started with the "AUTO" lettering in the driver's side window switch... that really bothered me driving the truck last night, lol

before:

out with the old, in with the new; a blue LED puled from a broken cell phone charger. this is why you NEVER just toss out your old electronics

then made my way to the center of the dash to see what was going on behind the clock/security/passenger seatbelt and airbag display

the tricky part, getting the face off the display without cracking it

good news is the clock display itself lights up a greenish color, so I should be able to use some sort of blue light filtering film to get the blue color

the bad news is the red/orange color comes from a film built into the plastic outer cover...

so that's going to take some figuring out...

BUT, I did replace the LEDs in the rest of that area for blue while I was in there

I also did the floor shifter indicators, but it's a little blotchy, so I need to redo it... at least it's easy to get to; no tools required for that one. but I need to get some more LEDs first :P

so now I just need to figured out the clock and AC control thing... the two hardest parts

other than those, we're all blue!

Ok travis, very well done! What trim do you have? Never saw the gear selection like that in the cluster!

thanks

just an 06 SR5 Prerunner

I actually tried to "customize" the cluster years ago on my 91 Toyota Pickup... it turned out looking more "ricey" than anything else, lol. I put blue LEDs in it and the light dispersal was really spotty, so I was a little scared when it came time to do this one. But I must say I'm REALLY impressed with the results!

oh and I also put a tacky looking brushed cover in the cluster of my 91. Here's a pic just to show how crappy it looked, lol

The 4x4 is also blue. so everything that is commonly on is blue, everything that is not supposed to be on is orange or red.

oh and I have removed the seat belt and the TPMS lights, as they annoy the hell out of me.
Hey I really like how you have two different blue colors on your speedometer. How do you do it? Also, does PLCC2 LED work for Toyota Tundra also or is it just for Tocoma?

When you are taking it apart you need to put a piece of masking tape on the gauges so you can draw an arrow for the needles to point to, that way you know you are putting it back together correctly.

I did not do this, and had to drive to the gas station with just the gauges plugged in and filled it up to set the needle to full. Used a scan gauge to get the rpms and mph for the tach and speedo. oil temp I'm not too worried about and just set it somewhere around 1/4 of the way up. If it ever goes up higher than half way I'm going to turn the truck off
