Installing Fog Lights

Hi,

Does anyone have a site/physical location that they purchased genuine toyota fog lights(for tacoma)? Price?

If so, how hard were they to install yourself?

J

It really pissed me off that the SR5 2 Package says that it comes with foglights, but only on a V6. what the hell difference does it make on why they would exclude them from the I 4?

The kit is easy enough to install. The relay/socket is aftermarket but everything else is oem.

Not hard at all. For a quick overview, check out http://www.yourtacoma.com/faq/ and click on "2005-2006 Tacoma Fog light install" (not the fog light mod one). This is a good start, but I did a lot of things differently since then. mhadden and I were going through this at the same time and I copied some things off of his install.

Differences off the top of my head from the DIY linked above:
- I put the switch in the OEM spot (upper left)
- I tapped switch illumination from the unused Auto-LSD connecter behind one of the other switch blanks in upper panel
- Don't buy a separate wiring harness - just make your own (the factory package above does not come with a wiring harness)
- Wire loom is your friend
- I had to change from the parking lamp relay tap shown to the low beam fuse to pass PA state inspection. You can pick from many places to tap depending on how you want them to work (like the fog light mod or not)

There are lots of people here that either added the OEM's, aftermarket, or both, so ask any questions while you are waiting for delivery of the lamps!

TC0605 --

Very similar installation to yours. I powered and grounded everything from the factory locations using the Toyota wiring drawings. I even installed the relay in the engine room J/B. It probably took me twice as long to do it this way, but no one but me would ever know it didn't come from the factory this way.

I'm going to help my friend install his fog lights. I read http://www.yourtacoma.com/faq/index....d=3&artlang=en and the installation seems easy. I have a problem though. My friend just bought the housing and bulb. We're picking it up tomorrow and i have no clue if it comes with the connector (the thing that connects the harness to the bulb) but yeah any tips will help.

btw where would i get the other stuff like a relay and the fuse holder thing?

and where can i get a wire loom. I have radioshack ones but they're short and expensive =/

Stopped and warned for fogs at night!

My fogs were just shipped from toyotapart.com... The install on the above mentioned site is pretty straight forward. I will be following tacobama's (factory) install...

good luck and take your time! Do NOT be in a hurry!

I bought my OE style fog lamps on ebay from these folks. They are exactly the correct ones, but all you get is the fog lamps and bulbs.

I used the wiring harness from another set of fog lamps that I bought on ebay which don't fit from these guys.

Then I bought the OE switch and put it all together and wala - fog lights.

i think i will make my own wiring harness but i need info on such as gauge size for the wires, where to get this relay, and the fuse thing and the bubl connectors since i don't think it will be comming with the housing. Oh and that black tape that can take a beating. I dont think it's electrical tape but not 100% sure. Sorry for sounding like a noob but i want everything to be perfect.
