So on another forum that I participate in...we have "The Daily Hi-Jack" typcially it is started by someone who is up getting ready for work, school, what have you, but technically it is fair game after midnight. It is usually only done on weekdays for the people who are at work and are bored.
Anyway, the purpose of the thread is just to be the daily off-topic chit chat that people have... It always has a beginning topic but it quickly moves to whatever people want to talk about that has nothing to do with the actual forum. It is always kept work safe so that the people at work can continue to participate.
I think this might be a good idea here so people can just chit chat and get to know each other better. I mean 1 useless off-topic thread a day in the tacoma forum isn't really going to add to the clutter.
This is just my suggestion...let me know what you guys think...and mods?
For example...here are the topics for this week from the other forum:
6/18/07: Architecturer of Fashion Day
6/19/07: BGPO Day (Big Gay Pirate Orgy)
6/20/07: World Sauntering Day
6/21/07: The End of the Beginning Day
6/22/07: Florida > Colorado Day
Anyway, think it over, might be fun for us Tacoma guys.
Kai

i like the idea of an off-topic thread, or maybe even just an off-topic sticky in this forum. Its cool to talk to other Tacoma people in here. I dont like going to the huge off-topic section where EVERYONE is. I like to stick with my group
The other one where I spend most of my time was formerlly a Subaru Club based out of Boulder Colorado. It has since expanded to 4500+ Forum Members. It's a car club just like this.

I'm thinking we already have an Off-Topic sub forum. Here's an idea....Post in the Off-Topic section
Except that (to be brutally honest) most people that visit the Tacoma sub-forum have no interest in sharing off-topic banter with say the members of the Celica club. There's just no common ground there.
I think the people in this group would like a way to "shoot the shit" with the people they know in this sub-forum. The regional threads help a bit, as does the pics thread. But we're continually reminded to keep the chatter to a minimum, and posts not directly related to Tacomas are known to get deleted.
Not that this is a new request - people have been "complaining" about this for as long as I've been here. It's one of the limitations of TN in its current state, and it would seem that the mods would prefer to keep it this way.
