I saw Cedarbarns truck (pic below) from TTORA and it has me wanting to paint mine now. I'm just not sure which colour(color) I'd go with though. My wifes cousin owns a body shop so he could do it professionally for a good price. What do you guys and gals think. I'm thinking something like Olive Drab, Desert Tan, Safari White, Khaki, you get the idea, something classic. Thoughts??? What would you do. As Linda Richman would say, Cedarbarns truck is neither Cedar or a barn. Discuss.
Something maybe like these colours(colors). Perhaps??
Dune Beige. It was available on FJs from '82-'83. Sweet color; a little lighter and grayer than standard beige like Cedarbarn's rig (which is also a nice color).
I've always wanted a flat, military style finish on the truck... I'm just too much of a chicken shit to do it.
Edit: Something I've always wondered... why do all cars come with a gloss finish? Is it just for looks, or is there another reason? It seems to me that flat (or semi gloss) would be much easier to maintain and to me looks just as good if not better sometimes. Just think about it... never wax again... never worry about water spots... never have to deal with those fine scratches or swirls in the paint. Simply break out a scrub brush, knock the dirt off, rinse and go.
Damn it!!! Now you've put those evil thoughts of repainting the truck in my head.
Nomad I think one reason they gloss up our vehicles is because without special paint like the toxic Mil. spec stuff oil and other residues easily stain the finish,....so I hear. Most newer paints without clear are porous as well so if you live in a humid or wet environment rust will begin to form through the paint,....again so I hear. Clear seals the porous paint finish I guess.
I sure would love a satin or flat paint finish though, and I wish Toyota had better colours(colors).
Go with the killer Hunter Green the Toyotas used to come it! That would look great. Damn I miss my 2000 Hunter Taco. I would've bought that color again in a minute! Of course my second choice is the Mitsubishi Maroon.

My last Tacoma was that color (I believe the exact name was Jade Mica). I was really surprised when they didn't offer that color with the current generation Tacoma, although I was happy that they brought blue(s) back .
