Satisfactory results with Toyota Service but still not happy...
Well I took my 06 into the dealer yesterday to have them fix the problem with my rear sliding window. I've only opened it a few times and the last time I opened it, the seal ripped right out of the window and was just left dangling. I took it into the body shop for them to look at it and they immediately blamed it on the TTORA sticker I had on the slider. This is after I took my truck over to the service department to get the manifolds replaced per the TSB. They gave me a hard time about that and fed me the line of BS about all the 4.0L sounding like that. That's when I quickly responded..."What they all sound like shit because it sounds like they have an exhaust leak?"
Basically I had to fight tooth and nail to get both taken care of, which by the way, they are repairing. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. Why can't they (Toyota) admit that out of the millions of parts they made a few were defective? Big deal right? I guess not to them.
I have to wait at least two and a half weeks to get my truck in. Apparently they are booked pretty good with repairs.
On a side note:
I just got a letter from the salesman who sold me my car today. Apparently they have a low inventory of pre-owned Tacomas on the lot and want to buy mine back and get me in a new 07. Yeah right, not after all I've put into my baby.

It sucks that you have to fight tooth and nail at some dealerships to get stuff repaired under warranty. There is a dealership like that near my house.....if it is warranty work they will do any and everything to AVOID having to do it (including flat out lying about replacing parts when they really haven't even touched your truck) but if it is not warranty work and you are paying them for it they will schedule you an appointment for that day or the next.
Also, that letter from the dealership about wanting to buy your truck back is a classic dealer scam. They are just trying to get you back in there so you will buy a new truck from them- they will give you a great offer to buy your truck and then rape you on the cost of a new one. I get one of those letters from my local dealer around the 20th of every month

i just took mine in for the window seal problem and they are replacing the whole window with no questions asked, but i also ripped off the sticker before i went in so they didnt have a reason to blame anything on
I called my dealer 6 weeks ago to get my truck scheduled for warranty service, I told them since mine is a work truck I need a courtesy car. They said that they have 6 and they are all out, they will put me on the list. I called two weeks ago and they told me that I was second on the list. Here it is two weeks later and still no word. They are either REALLY SLOW, or they have a lot of warranty work! I have heard horror stories about this dealership and I even told Toyota in one of their surveys to read the internet postings about this dealship, I think that I'm starting to see it first hand. I sure never had this problem with my Jeeps, Dodge Trucks, or Chevy trucks! And yes, I have had a lot of vehicles, I drive 30-40K/year so I get to sample them all. I have probably driven 10 vehicles in the last 15 years. This gives me the liberty to say that the dealership is so-so at best so far.
You know it's not just the wait, I needed to get my truck inspected but couldn't wait any longer, and I needed to get my oil changed but couldn't wait any longer, both of which would have been free at the dealer but instead I had to pay elsewhere.
Bob Thomas Toyota in White Oak, PA................ not so impressed so far!

Exactly...get a lease, its worse. "We'll waive the termination fee....as long as you lease a loaded model for another 36 months" ....I lease a Lincoln (wifes ride), get a letter once a week from Ford.
HotRod, at least your getting your truck taken care of, but I agree I hate fighting the dealer tooth and nail about stuff they should take care of. On a lighter note at least it fixable I had a Silverado with a steering problem (03) and I brought it back and was told there was NO FIX available from GM and I just had to deal with it ...deal it I did.
If there are any problems with specific dealership/locations, I would report them to Toyota corporate. I have only had my truck in once, for the tailgate TSB, and the service rep was more than accomodating. I am sure Toyota corporate would love to hear about their reps that are offering sub-par service!
For the record, Go Toyota on Arapahoe, in DTC area of Colorado.

Dream on! Toyota doesn't give a rat's ass about customer service or rotten dealerships. Good service at a Toyota dealership is a very rare occurance. Just hang out on the various forums and you will hear the horror stories. The dealership here in my area is the absolute worst bunch of lying, cheating, incompetent, arrogant, outright thieves I've ever met. I am not exaggerating. They even lost a friend of mine's truck. Everytime I had to take my vechicle in they screwed something else up as well. Scratched paint, over filled oil, bad spark plug etc. I've been a Tacoma owner for 10 years. I bought my last 2 new Tacomas in other towns.

Was your tailgate bent? I want to get my tailgate fixed before it gets bent....
While the topic seems to be dealership service, here's one; I had a 2002 Tacoma 4WD a few years ago that I took to a local dealership for an oil change. When I got home, I checked the work over, since I don't trust anyone, and for good reason. The oil level was so high that it was up a good 4 inches on the dipstick. I thought, "did they even drain the old oil out??" I checked the oil filter and it hadn't been replaced. (Layer of dust on it, no fingerprints, ect.) I remembered when I was getting the oil changed that the tech took a very long time. At one point I looked in the service bay and saw my truck on the lift, with nobody around. My truck sat on the lift like that for a good 20 minutes. What I figure is he got the truck up there, was called away to do something else, then forgot where he was when he came back. He added another 5 quarts of oil on top of the old oil, and shut the hood. When I went back to them to get this fixed, they were rude and treated me as though I added the extra oil to make them look bad!! I have a house with a garage now, so I don't have to worry about having someone else change my oil and screwing something up anymore.
Wow, if i took my truck in for warrenty and they didn't do the work, i'd just come back when no one is there and key all there cars . But anyways, everytime before i take my truck in i look at everything thats going to be done and mark it with somethings that obviously i know, like my initials. I also look at the bolts, and sometimes maybe take pictures. When i went in for my TSB, i got the run around from where i got them, and i just said, through my toyota forum, printed and showed them the tsb's they shut the fuck up then. You can also do what one person did, and that was to park there truck in front of the dealership everyday with a sign that said this is what the dealers do about warranty work................... nothing. fixing your stuff and getting you out of their way is more important then you hanging out on the street driving away customers.
When I purchased my '06 (it was a demo with 4K) they made me wait a day so that they could "detail it". When I got there the next day, it was still in the "detail shop". After FINALLY getting out of there I noticed that the carpets were wet, yet still dirty, there were still spots on the seat that I had pointed out the day before, and you could still see the hazy glass on the inside of the windshield like you get from smoking in the truck plus little kid fingerprints all over the glass! I ratted them out in a survey and the shop manager called me, they gave me 2 free oil changes. Here's the kicker, I can't get my truck in for service to get the free oil changes!

Was your tailgate bent? I want to get my tailgate fixed before it gets bent....
This tailgate thing is something I've been wondering about. How do you go about explaining this to your dealer? Do you call them up and say "I think my tailgate is going to bend. Can you fix it now?". Seriously, is this something that they'll be aware of if I call or will I get the "there's nothing wrong with your tailgate" reply?
In other words, is every Toyota dealer aware of TSBs?
