Hey guys...I just did the black headlight mod......I cleaned of the access glue and washed the truck....went for a cruise and such...went outside later and noticed a cloud in one of the lights......looks like moisture...I wonder if anyone else had this.....I'm wondering if I need more glue...or if the factory amount should work? maybe I should reheat at 300 degrees and try and squeeze together again???
Ya man, you have to put them back in the oven to completely seal them up, otherwises you will get some moisture in them. You really don't need any extra glue, just use what is there.
I guess the first one did...but the drivers side is the one with the cloud...I guess it will go away on its own but after any water gets in it will do the same thing...I think I will take it apart and heat it up again...see if that cures all that ailes me....I was scared shitless about messing this mod up ...it's pretty eash tho...and it looks good
oh oh....that is the black and white caps that were on the back of the light??? which one is supposed to be at the top and which is supposed to be at the bottom??? installed properly???
Oh and one more thing......when you guys sealed them back together....did they close completely...or was there a little bit of a gap left?????
NO GAPS...that is probably your problem right there.
If you want a quick fix, invest $20 in a heat gun. Just heat up the glue and close the gap. You may have to use tape or something to close the gap once you heat up the glue though.....user painters tape so you don't scratch up your lenses.
Good luck

I took the light apart again and did a complete heat and seal using the oven....I hope it works...its calling for rain tommorow so we'll see
the problem I see already is that I should have scuffed the thing before I painted ..or even used a primer...and a finishing bomb because a couple pieces chipped...not huge or anything...but I notice if I look close...I won't be taking apart again..that is for sure
I had a problem with water in one of my headlights after the dealership forgot to replace one of my rubber boots. I ran a hairdryer in the housing for an hour and it seemed like everything was good, but a few hours later they had fogged-up again. I took the housing out and removed everything from it only to find out that the little sponges in the small white and black caps (on the back of the housing) still had water in them. Once I dried those out it was fine and I haven't had any problems since.
So, I guess my point is: check the small sponges.
